I don't know why. It's a silly game, but I've been playing it for two years and it's actually the only reason I ever made a Kongregate account. This is a beautiful example of a fun and light time-waster. This game is exemplary of what these types of games should be.
They're right in the comments below. It's a complete grinding game. It took me several hours to get this badge, and I am no better at this game now than I was before. The only difference is that I played the game 49 times (which is ridiculous) and suddenly my character was unstoppable, allowing me to get a score 6 times higher than my previous score by holding the up arrow the entire time.
Terrible game. Terrible badge.
10,000 points to get the badge of the day from this game. I've played 9 times now and my highest score is 430. That's a bit absurd of a goal (10,000 points) as an intro goal for a newbie to the game and is far more likely to result in annoyance of the player than any kind of loyalty to the game.
Can't save progress, so my weapons go back to the basics any time I have to leave. I also have to start over from scratch. Could be a fun game that lasts hours, but without a way to save and come back without losing all upgrades, money and progress it's a one-time deal, as it becomes clear right off the bat that I won't ever be able to sit here long enough to beat the game and even if I could, it wouldn't be fun.
Making the space bar the trigger to change weapons is also a bad idea, as that functions like a tab in a browser and moves the screen all over the place.
Lordaki, it's destroyed the same way as everything else... I use battleships - if for no other reason than to slow the opposing army down. I use ACC, Atomic Subs (to limit airborne units), Battleships (To absorb damage), and cruisers. Just keep cranking them out. At that stage though, it's pretty much a matter of "Create everything. As quickly as possible."
It's kind of lame, really.
It's unfortunate that a game that has this much potential and is this entertaining has been completely hamstrung and had its potential nullified by a few small issues (the invincible base, the "create everything as fast as you can and that's really all you do" aspect, and making kills worth 1 point at a minimum). An update to this game would go an awfully long way towards taking it to that next level of simple but still very fun.
To sirmorgarath:
"i can see ur strategy with the invincible enemy base when the flagship is out.... otherwise u could wipe out the base before u take down the flagship".... So just make the level end when ALL enemy units are destroyed. Just make it stop producing enemy units after both the enemy turret and flagship are destroyed. That way the order isn't important.
Two critiques:
1) It doesn't give me time to pick up all my goodies at the end of a battle.
2) I can't go back and do a city that I really liked a second time.
Does anyone happen to know what the most lucrative town to hunt money is? Meaning, not destroy it, but just use it to get enough money to get all the upgrades?
If the game gave so much as even one point for kills after the "point multiplier" ran out, this would be a far better game because at least then all players could eventually get all three stars on every level.
As it sits however, this version of the game failed to live up to its potential and gets monotonous and frustrating quickly.
This game has potential, but definitely needs a revision.
I have to agree that the invincible shield the flagships abuse is very frustrating.
I'd also like to see more stats, like resources collected, resources spent, CPU resources collected and spent, kills, and so on. Bonus if you make those worth skill points too so that people who maybe aren't as good at the game can work their way up to all the perks with time and effort if they really want to.
I wouldn't mind seeing an endless mode as well.
