So it's a click and wait game, like tower defense games, except unlike tower defense games it deserves at least to be noticed.
It was a neat idea, but it's terribly, terribly boring.
Olrac: If enemies didn't blink temporarily out of physical existence, the Ferric would be entirely useless. You'd take damage every time you double jump or roll into creatures.
If you're worried about the trouble with pets getting stuck or unable to progress through complicated maps, the FOLLOW command could warp it to your location, OR leaving the room could make it appear. Potentially, death could turn it into an item you must pick up (which will become an icon on your map if you leave the area it died), and could use CHECKPOINTS to revive, or maybe pet feed (made from food in a GRINDER?). From the looks of it the game was designed to host a lot more players at any given time than it does (I have often been the only player online on the only server). If you're looking to expand a player-base, extensions to the story and additional quests and house items (are nice, but they) won't cut it. I am (my wallet and I) hoping to see a few more ideas put to use, these ones or not.
Secondly, how about a pet? Since weapons are all identical, and no special moves exist, it quickly becomes uninteresting, especially after mission 30. I'm sure it's not impossible to take an AI similar to the one the mimics use and have a pet follow and fight for you. Also, to give it a FOLLOW, STAY, and HIDE command set so that while it auto-attacks, it's less prone to death constantly. Best to hook players into the system by having at least 3 SPORES PURCHASABLE pets before you decide to inevitably make the rest of them cost brass. And something that's not embarrassing to have your friends watch follow you around please! Also, potentially I suppose the pets COULD be captured mimic eggs in quests, or bought from the store, or only available in the store after an egg is found, which is only available after earning the(...silver?) trophy.
Now that I've pointed out plot holes, time for some real criticism. First of all, I love the game. However, the mechanics especially for fighting are a little too simple and hardly get more interesting. Since the level is capped at 30 and no more experience is earned, there really ought to be something worthwhile to work toward. For example: how about unlocking a new technique every 15 levels? I nearly get bored to tears watching my crag whip his grapple back and forth with exactly the same motion repeatedly, and they really only have 4 different looking attacks. Aeronauts have even fewer, and Ferrics are almost interesting enough.
Now, I'm no farmer, but doesn't emptying a full watering can on a single sprout the day after you planted it kinda, you know, kill it? I don't know... maybe it's a really small can...
"Mission 29: We sent another supply drop, so now we need you to collect all the boxes we dropped again and hand deliver what was in them." Thanks guys, whatever would I do without your brilliant supply drops? Is it just me or does this start to feel like Animal Crossing?
This is a neat game that can be a few hours of fun, but it leaves a lot of room for improvement... For example something more interactive than the skill bar to determine attack power, and images that are a bit more... well not made on microsoft paint. Also kaschko has a valid point about the 1-ring limit. Also alignment would be a great feature to see, as well as a customizable avatar, even as simple as it would have to be if also made on microsoft paint.
This game is trash after level 23. You basically have to have MADE level 24 in order to know how to do it. No one likes trying something thousands of times before being able to do it. Even trying to copy the walkthrough is nearly impossible.
When you play a guitar, your third finger is a higher note than your second finger, which is a higher note than your index finger. Your keys are backwards, and just because the hand on the keyboard is facing the other way, it doesn't trick muscle-memory.
I love how the color scheme of the "strings" doesn't even pretend to be at all an original idea. If you're going to copy a video game company's idea, at least try make it look like someone else did it. Also, don't call it a guitar. The "instrument" we're playing would be a keyboard if any instrument at all, and calling it strings is giving the finger to those of us who play real guitars. Don't get me wrong, (and don't thumbs down because you liked the game) by flash game standards, it's good, I'm just insulted by the travesty it makes of guitar hero.
Does anyone else think that maybe a quest for killing 15 of something should reward you with more than the amount of XP you get just for killing 2 of that creature? As it is quests are... well, worthless.
