I am a badge hunter and I came here just for the BotD. Getting all badges was my goal for past 9 years, though I was obviously aware of that I possibly would never get all of them. When I saw anime crap in a terrible 'music game', I decided I will never even try to earn the remaining badges. This game deserves -15 stars (yes, a negative rating), it's so bad and annoying. I don't understand why so many good games remain unbadged for years and crap like this one gets 4 badges. Now kong haters gonna hate me for having an opinion they don't like.
OMG, this game is so bad! It would be bad in 2010 and it was released last year. Shame on developers. Poor controls, poor upgeades system, poor gameplay, poor graphics, poor story... And it's lagging occasionaly.
I have done most of the levels with the following setup. Back row (top-down): Marine, Medic, Marine, front row: Heavy, Engineer, Heavy. Sometimes I had to replace one Heavy or Engineer with Forcer. Fire team skill really helps when you are overwhelmed on hard difficulty.
Tips for those who want the hard badge - part 2.
5. You can sell and buy towers during the wave - use it to your advantage! You cannot completely block the exit gate, but if you construct your maze in such a way that the path meets the exit gate in 2 points, you can move the cheap PT-blocker from one point to another, making the monsters turn back.The longer the way from one point to the other, the better! And it costs you just 2-4 cash (you sell a PT for 8 and buy for 10) per level! It's much better than transporter tower, which costs much more and can teleport just one monster and you keep the entire reward! 6. About wave 32 start buying boss towers (BT). After wave 40 only BTs matter, all others are just road blockers. You will need ~10 BTs, so reserve the best spots for them. I don't sell the SMs or ILRs.
Tips for those who want the hard badge. 1. Forget about impact towers, transporter towers, cash machines and electric floors (you want narrow paths, 1 square wide, while all towers includin e-floor are 2x2 squares). 2. Use peon towers (PT) only as path blockers, forget about upgrading them. You will beat the initial levels with PTs only, but later they are just too weak. 3. Build a maze using PTs only - the longer and more complex the better. 4. When you complete your maze using PTs only start selling some and replacing them with stick mans (SM) - upgrade them to lvl 3 max. A bit later start buying inverted lightning rods (ILR) and place them at U-turns (upgrade to lvl 2 max). ...
Tips (part 3/3): 7) One of best industries is alohol distillery. You might also want at least one cheese factory per region to provide yourself low-cost and high-quality food. When buying industries pay attention if the town produces required raw materials (e.g. cotton if you want to start a fiber manufacture). Otherwise your industry will stop production (while still paying daily costs!) when you run out of materials. You cannot rely on computer-controlled caravans and you won't be comming back to old regions very often - your industries should be self-sufficient and you should only collect the incomes. 6) Best mercenaries can be hired by freeing boryokudan captives. 8) NEVER spend all your money - you might think you will sell your goodies quickly, but sometimes towns are low on cash, leaving you with full cargo and no money to buy food or pay salaries.
Tips (part 2/3): 3) Don't buy old or very young (baby) animals - the older ones can die any time or decrease their max load as they become even older, and you cannot determine the final max load of baby animals. 4) Keep up the trail, since you can easily get lost - you cannot specify your location unless you have certain items (obtainable in mid-game and late-game). 5) Many people you meet can join your caravan as volunteers if certain conditions are met - check the official wiki page. 6) Same stuff costs different amounts of money depending on cities - including warehouses, which might be costly in large cities.
Tips (part 1/3): 1) ATTRIBUTES: agility=4--> speed 5 (same speed as donkeys) or agility=6--> speed 6 (same speed as camels), accuracy=1 (accuracy determines only initial ability to use guns, which will be trained eventually, while all other stats determine untrainable skills), remaining points in intelligence and physical. Intelligence determines how fast you learn (and you need to learn fast to compensate low accuracy), physical determines HP. My favourite combination is 7/6/1/6. 2) Don't bother with breeding animals - by the time they get born and grow up, you will replace them with better animals or vehicles. However, female animals provide milk, which can be sold or used by you or your captives, slaves, etc. or as emergency food supply. Don't bother with sheep, goats or cows, unless you want to be a farmer - they are too slow to travel with.
Pretty nice hack & slash game. It definetely has some flaws (characer development at higher levels, random access to skills), but also many interesting ideas/solutions (alchemist and pugilist classes, dog for ranger, etc.). All in all, a solid and not so easy game.
HINT: If you want to train offensive or defensive skills quickly, enter an easy battle and let your characters target each other (or even themselves!) instead of enemy. You can use physical/magical shield to reduce damage.
