To put it bluntly, this game does not yet function. The combat is nonexistant, the enemies may as well not be there and the platforming is frustrating. So far all reviewers have been stuck on the second level due to glitches, including me. If you can update this game, i will gladly update my rating and rereview.
Personally, i preferred the original, combat isn't really this games strong point and the original didn't focus on it, instead focusing on the humour of dying over and over. This one lacks a little of the same sheen that made me like the original so much. Still, it's pretty decent.
I didn't much enjoy this game when i played it, for the same reason i didn't enjoy superman 64, i find it hard to enjoy a platformer that doesn't allow for mistakes. At the same time i can see the value in a game that is much more difficult, and i understand that people are going to enjoy this game for that reason, so i'm giving it 4/5.
*SPOILERS* i think i have to disagree with you Rivinhal, as someone who has experienced self mutilation first hand (and second hand for that matter) i can attest to the potentially all consuming nature of self harm and it's addictive properties, which in extreme instances blossoms into suicide. I think the evidence in this makes a much stronger case for self harm, specifically because the wording in the hospital scene is a stretch for I.V use, she would probablly be more concerned about the possibility of overdose than anything, (which it would have been if the drug use had sent him to the hospital, they also seem more concerned with his depressive tendencies more than anything.), that said this can easily apply to all drug use not necessarily in it's wording, but definitely in the social commentary.
This is a beautiful game, and stands testament to a whole world of short games people have been exploring, everything in this world can be made into art, including the humble format of short form flash video games. I have continually marveled at a number of truly beautiful games, which are more interactive stories than diversionary games you would never miss. Kudos to you and any other who makes the attempt not to make something people will like and find enjoyable for a few minutes, but something beautiful that they can love.
Thanks for the feedback and support!
