How to "counter the wizard": Buy the related extra upgrade to unlock a new skill for entertainers. Once you have the skill, wizards who try to transform another shopper into an animal in the presence of an entertainer will have their spell negated. This is a very helpful skill, since animals poop in your mall and make more work for janitors.
PROTIP: While you can only place once Guard Post per floor, they can patrol the entire mall and generally move faster than most other guards. Placing stairs at each of your guard posts will allow them to move from floor to floor quicker.
The leveling system for buildings is ingenious, if occasionally frustrating. But I really think shopkeepers should move much faster than customers and employees. With a big mall it can take the better part of a game day for shopkeepers to reach their shops, meaning those shops are only open for a few hours.
Why aren't there any achievements for undooming humanity? It's far easier, quicker, and less expensive to cause extinction than it is to replace the 7+ billion people originally lost. Obtaining a few achievements for fixing your terrible mistake wouldn't go amiss.
@Azwerg (and everyone who's asked why newspaper's so much more expensive): Newspaper providing bonuses for the other businesses is intentional (businesses thrive on advertising irl, and it's no different here). That's why newspapers tend to cost more by comparison and why they have more achievements than any other business.
HOW TO MUTE: 1) Click your dapper little portrait, located in the top left corner of the screen. 2) Scroll over to the Stats screen by either clicking and dragging the enlarged portrait to the left or using the mouse scroll wheel. 3) Click the box that says mute music. 4) Stop flooding the game comments with posts about how there's no mute button. 5) + this so step 4 will actually happen.
I have never before had a game make my heart race without having to resort to a jump scare. This is thrilling and challenging and beautiful and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to handle it in large doses.
A few helpful hints: 1) The Bow may not able to splatter your enemies like the Shotgun from the previous games, but it's still an invaluable weapon that can carry you through the entire game. 2) Along those lines, get the Poisonous Arrows skill as soon as you unlock the Master of Pain. Poisoning a target makes them go berserk, causing them to attack and be attacked by nearby enemies, so one of the best ways to clear large crowds of enemies is to poison one or more of them. (Also it's really fun to watch a poisoned troll tear through your opponents.) However, keeping your distance is important since poisoned enemies will attack you if you're close enough and/or there's no one else to fight. 3) Other skills to get and upgrade as soon as possible are Lockpick, Eagle Eye, and Engineering. 4) Upgrading the machiolation on towers lets you pour boiling oil on enemies at the tower's gate/entrance by pressing Space.
