As other people have stated, it is a bit of a challenge just for the very first levels. After that, it seems impossible to die :P (I had a cursed vampire with resistance items (75 all and ice+100), and with 200+ str, 160+ sta). Although repetitive on the long run, I have to admit it is a very good game, with fairly decent AI and flawless randomness. (overpowered players though, as mentioned before).
As the (evil? fair? balanced?) developer part within me says, I'd give the randomness a bit less of a role by creating different arrangements of groups of heart-paths. Like.. (1h-2v-1v-3h-2h-3v). So every six turns (or twelve) all the screen would be filled.
It's not common to see a new creative gameplay, though.. gratz on that!! :D
Oh, and maybe every X round the hearts could be green and you'd had to get them :P
I love the randomizing touch and the playability, but you might want to check for impossible levels (so far: a series of blocks blocking the way down // falling into a "pit" and being unable to jump or stomp your way out // princess cage being impossible to reach)
I spent all my points in Looting, and go with +45% on the hero that has the units I put in the map (other heroes have +looting too, just in case it added). Game beaten, and I have yet to find something worth keeping :/ And that A. Jones seems to be keeping the good stuff for himself :S Otherwise, nice game :) ((PS: "stealing" is yet to be seen -I've only played with mages-))
(1) Sometimes you randomly fall to the emptyness, and also your kills reset to 0 when this happens (not that it matters anyway though..).
(2) It'd be nice to be able to switch guns backwards with the "q" key, or directly with specific keys.
(3) Maybe add the fist as a last ressource weapon? It's very frustrating when you ran out of ammo :P
(4) The more I play, the more I like it! :D
