I know this has been said before, but the leveling system is pointless. The only reason it's there is to create an artificial barrier to advancement.
If it gave some sort of effect, however minor, it would make far more sense.
Some things I was thinking of, that would make it beneficial, is to have your level either give you more of a chance of bonuses, or to have the bonuses last longer based on your level. Outside of that, the x2 Exp bonus is a slap in the face compared to the x2 coins.
Either way, great game, but that is a singular flaw that I simply cannot let go.
One thing is for certain. It takes a special kind of game to make me regret getting upgrades. But this one does it for sure.
There is a point where your jump height and speed are more of a detriment than a help.
I love this. Logical solutions to the puzzles (i.e. no using things that make absolutely no sense on puzzles that are more frustrating than clever). Excellent dialog, and just good humor all around.
I WANT MORE!
By the end of the game you're basically flying around a giant gun.
Also, if the lightning gun was powerful in the previous games of the series, in this one it's just over powered. Simply load up on lightning guns, a few coin magnets and sit at the top of the screen until you need more hearts, grab some and repeat as necessary.
This game (although a lot of fun), is seriously imbalanced. There is literally no use in buying the health or defense upgrades. Spamming "Gravity" and "Multi-Fire", along with some Crit (chance and factor), damage, and range. And you can easily get to level 200+ on normal.
I honestly haven't even tried hard.
I think Russians are a bit over powered. Sure you lose the ability to get archers, but with a reasonable build, you can have over 60 knights running around.
Not only did this game keep everything about the first that I loved, it added to it! Actual character levels, yes please. Ability to walk over empty bags, oh yea! Skill tree that actually gives really useful stuff, absolutely!
