Most of the criticisms I see here are bunk: keep the OHKO and the arrow controls. But, an autofire feature is a must; the special attack can easily be a separate button.
'Unapologetically hard' isn't the half of it. I've brute-forced every single pixel that I could find that gives me a reaction, and nothing. Unless I've missed some tiny little spot, I'm stuck and I haven't even started yet.
Not terribly creative, but plays well and manages to create some nice atmosphere. The controls are just good enough to stay out of the way, but not good enough to make my fingers sing. 3/5
The developers' skill at graphics and presentation could be really amazing in the service of someone...who can actually design a game that's fun to play. As it is, this platformer would have been considered subpar back in the NES days. 2/5, but these guys should get up with someone who has some game-design skills.
Looks like you guys have worked hard and done a lot of things right. The window is a bit big for my laptop screen, but I guess that's unavoidable in such a graphics-intensive game. Too bad Kong doesn't allow fullscreen. Anyway, nice work. Are you planning a non-browser release?
While in-game press "X" to access the menu, from there select full-screen. If you want a client version, go to www.angry-red.com and grab it for Win or Mac. Just keep in mind you CANNOT use your Kong account to login to this - nor can you access the character you've created here on Kong. Their rules, not ours.
Possible bug? I paused the game to take a phone call, pressed the 'mute' button *on my keyboard*, unpaused the game, and the game seems to have frozen.
Please, please, PLEASE add an auto-pause feature if you move the mouse outside the play area? PLEASE. It is an absolute essential for any mouse-controlled shooter. Thanks.
There are definitely some major problems with this game. The weapons are unbalanced, getting money is a huge pain, the targeting reticule is practically invisible, and firing outside the game window causes you to freeze in place, leading to death. The core gameplay is fun; fixing these issues (and especially the last two) would make it much better. 3/5
Why isn't this game more popular? It's addictive, well-designed, and just challenging enough to be a great 2-3 hour-waster. Its graphics are simple and the music is a bit repetitive and grindy, but holy crap. Even without badges, I'm going through and getting platinum on all the levels just for the sheer joy of completing it. 5/5, and keep making games.
I am enjoying this game only - and I mean ONLY - because I have a PSX controller hooked up to my computer. If I were not using a controller, this game would suck. As it is, the good thing about it is the level design and puzzles. The controls could use some serious work; jumping and walking feel wonky, and don't even get me started about wall-jumping. With some slicker controls, this could easily be among the best platformer games on Kong; as it is, it's only good. IF you have a controller. 3/5
"The laser speeds up over time; climb quickly in the beginning to help ensure that you're not overtaken in the more technical areas later."
Seriously? Who wrote that? Was it one of the developers? It's true that the laser speeds up as you climb, but since the laser *also* teleports so that it's never more than a screen away from you, going fast at the start makes precisely Jack **** of a difference. I know; I've done experiments. How can you not know how your *own game* works?
