A run-of-the-mill escape game with only the barest aesthetics to support it. Took me very little time to beat, and the lack of a coherent story made the pretentious style of the graphics and music somewhat annoying. Still, functional and some thought was placed into the puzzles. 2.5/5
A great first offering! Clever concept and clean execution. My only suggestion for improvement has already been made by OneLeggedRhino, so I won't repeat it.
This game is a massive improvement over the developer's previous efforts. The gameplay, while not perfect, is fluid and enjoyable, the boss designs are creative and fun, and the story is...okay. I played it all the way through, which is more than I can say for most of the platformers on this site. 4/5.
As far as casual games go, this is the tops: relaxing, aesthetically pleasing, and with just the right amount of low-pressure challenge to be interesting. Like BIT.TRIP.BEAT on Quaaludes.
You know what? This is a great game - the graphics and music lend it a wonderful atmosphere, the controls are good, and it's got solid launch-game design. That's why it pisses me off that a bug like that just gets left in. I cannot believe it would be that hard to fix. I'm not a programmer and *I* could probably fix it.
Uh...one star. You can't post a game that crashes your browser before you even get an explanation of how to play. I touched the plane and let go, and apparently that was enough to trigger the 'backwards' crash. Fix the damn game. How the hell did this get so highly rated? It's broken.
What a great game! Some simple gameplay elements combined with a slick presentation and some of the best electronic tracks I've ever heard make for a mesmerizing experience. The difficulty seems a bit on the low side compared to some of the other bullet hells, but that actually works well here; extreme difficulty would have detracted from the trance-like pleasure of the game.
@pyromanta: I was stuck for a few minutes, then tried re-clicking a few things. It's actually pretty intuitive - most of the stuff for the sobering agent is right where you would think it would be.
The warp drive misdirection is mean-spirited and detracts from the satisfaction of the game. There's nothing wrong with having an insanely hard boss-run, especially in a bullet hell game, and there's even nothing wrong with making it the gateway to some bonus. But don't announce the bonus right off and let the player think he's going to unlock it after beating the (extremely hard) last boss, only to snatch it away by surprise at the last second and put it behind an exponentially harder challenge. That demeans and frustrates the player, and it's only acceptable in games like IWBTG that play it up for comedy.
That, however, is the sole flaw in the game. Otherwise, it is by far the best bullet hell I have played on Kongregate or anywhere else outside the full-price market. It is visually gorgeous, the controls are perfect, the bullet patterns are some of the most original and fun I have ever seen, and the powerups are balanced and satisfying. 5/5, but you're still a jerk.
It's when you've figured out the attacks, gotten the patterns, perfected your build, and gotten Atrophy to his last half-inch of health that the dying instantly to a single string of shots gets *really* frustrating. Before that, it's just par for the course for a Bullet Hell game.
You know, now that I'm not playing EXTREME LAG MODE on a netbook, I realize I'd forgotten how enjoyable these games are. They're even more enjoyable when you can finish a battle in under a minute! :D
I made it to a room with an egg, somehow...and then I was confused, and also sad. Then I started over. Maybe I made a mistake. But, whatever the case, I will always remember that egg. :(
Very creative game, and I will certainly finish it up after I get some sleep. A+
Aesthetically the best typing shooter I've played here; the background is uncluttered, the words are easy to see, the shots are quick and the shot sound is just like a typewriter - perfect. The game not pausing when it goes out of focus is a problem (for some reason I lost focus several times and had to click back on, losing precious time); also, when I was trying to clear a spread of one-letter shots, the game prioritized on an enemy instead, confusing me and costing me the game at level 48 or something. Still, head and shoulders above most entries in this...uh...'genre', if you can call it that. I salute you.
