This game is missing something... Oh, I know! MEAT! This game is a great expansion on the meatboy game style, but I just love the new mechanics offered in this 'vegetarian' version :)
This game needs to show the optimum number of boxes/steps per level. I ended up making 2 solutions to level 12: one was memory-efficient with 12 boxes & 1016 steps, while the other was space-efficient with 8 boxes & 1489 steps, but neither of these got me a 'genius' rating. If I don't know what to shoot for in terms of space- or memory-efficiency, how do I make a good call on what kind of solution to build? This is by far one of the best games on the site, but it still has lots of room for improvement.
SERIOUSLY needs an option to type in your own input string! this is especially important on the recursion levels, where your recursive-box just eats the string and pauses indefinitely. There is no debugging option for this (other than step, which is useless here). You can't even use your own string input, which REALLY stinks. Also, the recursion-box should follow the string down through all layers of the stack, then back up (That way you can debug more than the first recursion).
There is ONE thing that would make this a terrific game: voice acting. You have a great script, all you need are some people to read it in a humorous manner.
@Colin839: Actually, he doesn't mean "drafting" OR "drifting". What turboNuke meant to say was "yer doin' dat giraffe thing", referring to the way that a pod of giraffes will fly in a V-formation to disperse air resistance while flying south.
There's a bug where I just died randomly: just BOOM! I can't reproduce the bug, but I was THIS close to the next objective and really frustrated at the game for cheating me out of those last few miles. Also, the more/less stats button should be cleared when you exit the death screen; it looks odd just sitting in the main menu.
If you are trying to go for the hard badge, realize that the only way is if you build up a TON of momentum (~500+ on your speed bar), because the final few monsters take 5-10 hits with the best sword/potions, and you just can't kill enough of them. Make sure that you don't fall, as this may take up to 100 speeds off your speed bar if you haven't hit lava yet. In the end, all you do is coast and dodge bullets; only attack when there's a boss, bomb, or potion or if you're sure that you have a safe shot, otherwise, you'll find yourself choking on lava.
I'm proud of only taking an hour to finish this thing, so I look at the highscores and am suprised to see that the top 100 scores took 0 minutes to complete this!?!
butcher achievement seems to be broken: I have 537 enemies and it says that I need 50 to earn bronze... Also, a lot of these achievements are way too involved; there's no WAY I'm gonna get electrocuted 100 times for a silver medal.
There are few things that I don't like about this game: 1. fireballs don't re-target and usually all overkill the same goblin, 2. barriers disappear without warning, causing me to not protect my allies, 3. some low-velocity rocks go straight through barriers, making multiple layers of barriers a must, 4. you can't heal your balloon, 5. the achievements page doesn't say I have visited the sponser site, ?_?. Otherwise this is a 5/5 game: I love the concept, graphics, and music.
I used the level select feature, and it reset me back to the level i picked (level 2) and had to redo 27 levels... :( great game though, i liked the original gameplay.
OHHH, I get the joke! It is that playing these gameboy games is just a repeat of the same thing OVER AND OVER AND OVER. What the game does by playing for you is show you how pointless it is to try and retry the same hops and jumps while trying to reach some unknown goal.
We ahve very limited in game size. Audio has big size and take alot place in distributive. Don't sure if we can add it.
