Woo, really fun platformer, with a major chunk of RPG elements to boot. The scope and size of the game are quite impressive too. Unlike most platform games I play, the mechanics (like jumping) aren't all that clunky and you don't need to perform amazing feats of physical dexterity and timing to do well in the game. Really enjoyable!
Nice expansion to the original. Also, like the original, abusing tree cutting for gold and getting the mana talents are key for easy wins. Cut a couple trees at the start for 200 more gold and keep cutting when you're at a decent amount of mana.
Gotta agree with the other commentors, the game-play is REAL clunky. At first I thought this would be a nice puzzle platform game, but what it has in ideas is lost in execution. The game is just frustrating (more so than most platformers, which I generally find frustrating). Double-jumps are a major pain, and some of the levels are way too long and one slip (due to said clunky controls) is a complete waste of time. Not even going to bother for the hard badge.
Whew! As one guy said, the later levels require a lot of luck, especially 70-72. Glad I'm done this badge. Great game, but frustrating at times if you can't find the first or second ball right away. They grow too large and become reinforced by ball 3 or 4.
Nice little game. :) Quick badges all things considered. It's refreshing to see a platform game with no real enemies and no millions of spikes at odd angles killing you. Just good, stress-free fun.
Second tip regarding the main gun: Level up damage, reload speed, shell speed and accuracy more or less at the same levels. Once reload speed is at 5, you can start adding in firing speed (i.e. reload 5, fire 1, reload 6, fire 2, etc.). This means you can completely ignore ammo capacity as your reload speed keeps you at full ammo. This in turn allows you to put points in other, better things. For non-gun skills, I like building armor first, then more support skills. A few points in balloon score gain are nice too, as are points in building speed. Save "start with more score" and "build price" to the end, as the savings don't justify the price. You'll always have enough to build. Good luck!
FINALLY! Congratulations! You just won the Thunderous OPEC Guardian Badge and 60 points!
If anyone is looking for any tips, I've got a few. First, make liberal use of your support abilities in all 3 campaigns. For campaigns where you can build defenses, this allows your defenses to level up to the point that support is no longer needed. For the oil campaign, there's no reason not to spam support.
Hmm, gotta figure out how to get the medium badge. Got the hard first playthrough only doing the main quests. @Hughster: Not sure what team you were using, but the last boss on hard only took maybe 2 minutes for me. Just use the power up special and 8 Fighter/Valkyries with Slicer (which gives you hp drain). They hit the boss for 600 a pop like once a second.
Jep is correct. After all of the bad things I read about 25 I was expecting a challenge. It's basic arknoid/break-out bouncing. Control the angle and it's fine. Or learn about angles if you're unfamiliar with those games (but you've played them level 6 and 21).
Seems most tactics are viable. I put my stats between engine and handling and have yet to place lower than 3rd on the first run of any new track, and I always place first on the second run (if I didn't the first). Couple more tracks and I'll have the hard badge.
Beautiful, beautiful game! I know a lot of your games contain the word epic, but yours are also the very few that deserve that title. I haven't had this much fun in ages! The designs of the bullet spreads are just amazing to watch. Sometimes I find myself getting hit not because I failed to dodge, but because I was just watching the scene and didn't care I was hit.
@Sohry: It was a typo and you can't edit. Didn't think I'd need to post another comment to correct it though. Yes, one per minute. That's still extremely slow.
