So a while back I commented about the gold inhibiting non-paying players and said I wouldn't bother playing. But I did keep playing, and I'm still enjoying this as a game. This is a genuinely good game and clearly loads of effort has gone into making it. Its worth a go even if there are a few building upgrades you can't have without paying.
Ah. I'm stopping playing. I hadn't realised there were basic building upgrades that you could only get with gold coins. I don't mind it being a little slower if you're not prepared to pay. But being hamstrung makes the game pointless.
Unless you're prepared to invest in the game, I wouldn't waste your time.
I am sorry to see you go, Gestr!
Thank you for your feedback.
I would like to point out that those upgrades are not basic and that there is a gold reward (between 2 and 5) when you log for 7 days in a row.
So it is possible to gain enough gold for those upgrades just by logging in every day :)

It should really say how long upgrades to buildings will take. Given that time is such a valuable commodity in this game its annoying to not be able to plan!
An auto upgrade button would be appreciated for the SP points. It gets pretty tiresome clicking through, and you could just be prompted for the decisions only.
I agree with @Asher3 - I didn't bother recharging my cell. It was too much effort - I just ended the day. But for those who were aiming for a good "score", it must have been very frustrating.
It really annoys me when games give you no indication at all of how close you are to completion.
Some of us want to know if it's going to take hours to complete a game or not, so we can plan the rest of our lives accordingly. In general it usually incentivizes you to finish if you have a better idea of how close you are.
This is an incredibly well-crafted game. Aside from its addictive playability, what really stands out for me is that my old computer, which slows down and lags for just about every action intensive game on Kongregrate, doesn't hesitate at all for this game, no matter what happens on screen. Very impressive.
For the life of me I can't imagine why pressing w and up at the same time make you jump so much higher.. but be careful not go off screen when you do so as you can lose your progress!
Its not a bad game. The art is fantastic, as is the music. But the explanation from Annie just feels tacked on (consider how easily the padlock code is given!). In the end there's no actual puzzle element to the game. However, what it lacks in gameplay and narrative it makes up for in elegance. 4/5
I got insanely bored by stage 6. So I stopped playing. Not worth finishing this game. No idea how many stages there are, but this is slow-paced to the extreme.
Whilst some of the puzzles in this game were very elegant, others were simply awful. Take level 25. An utterly pointless session of clicking with no puzzle element at all. Very disappointing final puzzle.
@amjgh
I agree. It really isn't clear, but you have to destroy all the units on screen. Then the buildings automatically are destroyed. That means you need to get one of your range units to destroy the tank, then eliminate any remaining spiders. On hard, that's a real challenge.
@ArtAndor - there is a restart option at the bottom - but only on the launch screen bizarrely.
The game is ridiculous. You either do spectacularly well or spectacularly badly and its entirely dependent on that first launch. Made it to Mars in 2 days after a few attempts. Didn't enjoy doing so.
If you're struggling with the torture room, quickly running to the right gate and hugging it might help. For me it meant I faced under 10 monsters as they were all being spawned out of my view.
