Nice take on a pretty tired formula... but it lacks balance and troop rushes seem essentially undefendable. I like it a lot - but only gets 3/5 due to balance issues and ergo relative lack of depth
Moreso than a fast forward button, I'd say this game needs a straight line-drawing tool... puzzles should test your logical reasoning capabilities, not your art skills, surely?
The health system could do with being a bit more forgiving... the number of times I've gone into a dungeon with like 5 health without realising and then getting stuck on the boss... ugh. Also, the spider queen boss is just really annoying, not fun.
This is the first 'joke' game I've ever played all the way through. Witty, accurate and aesthetically pleasing, this is a prime example of the genre. Kudos.
After playing further, I'm gonna have to whack it down to a 2/5 - the game gets seriously boring once you have the sledgehammer, the only challenge being trying to guess the REAL probability of a hit - seriously, that "95%" is a bigger lie than the cake.
The probabilities seem really messed up, consistently breaking the law of averages... And there's far too many encounters. I'm about halfway through and am having little trouble with the battles, but having one every other square is really tedious.
Great concept though - I'll be looking out for a sequel. 3/5
