Very exciting. From the moment the connecting prompt flashed up, I didn't know what would happen next. Would it load? Would it stay like that forever? Tensions only ramped after the thirty second mark. The graphics are stellar, though the animations could use some work: for example, maybe have the ellipsis after the word "connecting" move a bit while its loading, to give us a sense of motion. Other than that, excellent game, 4.5/5.
I don't know, I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it's pretty fun. On the other hand it badly needs a new layer of strategy. The energy system I dislike, but it's not game breaking.
I find myself keep coming back to this game. It's actually one of the best games I've ever played. It completely appeals to me: perma-death, rpg, and many classes to choose from. I must have played this game thirty times, always trying to get the hard badge. This is a truly excellent game.
An interesting game with some things going for it, like a bit of character development and a change of pace through the acts. I didn't like it though. I wish the color changed throughout the stages so I had more of an incentive to keep going, and I only really enjoyed the last level because it was the only one with a reasonable pace. The music was the biggest thing about this game, but I've never liked music enough to play a game solely for it, so this game ended up being not my thing. I definitely see the appeal, though.
Combat of the last game was the weakest point of it; therefore, making it the focus of this game was a poor decision. What I liked about the first one was how different it was from every other game I'd played. This one had that feeling as well, but to a lesser extent, as it was based less around problem solving and seeing all of the witty death scenes, and more about combat. The combat is... meh. Just run at enemies and bash one button. If you were already looking to make an RPG-like game, you could have added some more depth to combat. Lucky Tower was one of my all-time favorite games, and while this one is a worthy successor, it's just not quite as fun.
