Nice that badges don't take more than 3h to get everything. For the last few levels (18 onwards), I just got the combined Ion Wave (upgraded) + Tetra + lasting forever upgrade to rip through everything.
Game starts off interesting and goes down here from there. A few cons about the game: 1) laggy after a while (memory leak perhaps)? 2) your inventory gets really full in the beginning since you can't sell "usable items" how stupid is that. Just for that I took off a star for my rating. 3) The guy's voice gets really annoying... and 4) power orbs or whatever. I have about 5 items sitting in my inventory (I'm level 4 btw) and I can't use any of them, nor would I be able to use most since I need to be much higher leveled... That defeats the whole purpose of getting better items!
This was really fun until the real end... to beat the last boss easily you need to level yourself up a bit (in other words grind) else you won't deal damage fast enough.
I was levelling pretty consistently until the last few worlds, when I realized I can just rush through it - in other words, the boss was a lot more work for me to kill. You can start killing the metallic floaties at level 40, and the things that say "immune" are colour (aka spell) dependent.
Pretty good game. The training is a bit rigged though. Much easier to get stats ups & do better on arrows and dodge that the melee or block. Yes, your dodge % doesn't go up by much each time... but I found it waay easier to up dodge than block. But more importantly... arrows was too imba compared to melee. Had the same weapon tier and double the melee, but my ranged damage was still higher. So I ended up (after ~level 15-20) focussing more time on dodge/ranged and spending all the extra points on melee since it led to faster levelling.
It's an interesting game, but the leveling and combat system is really poorly made in comparison to other similar games. Damage is really controlled by the combat weapon (which depends partially on luck during adventuring). I have 3k gold right now and I can't do any training which will increase damage or decrease the stress in adventuring.. which means I need to spend 5 weeks on something that I'm easily able to defeat simply from stress. Lame.
Nice game, but the lag is really something. I tried adjusting the quality (left click) and it did help slightly. Refreshed the game once, and most of the lag cleared up, but started up pretty quickly. Especially for the last section.. lag is brutal if you're trying to do the red fish/jumping to avoid the enemies atop.
Some glitches and annoying points...
1 - Skip button doesn't work 90% of the time. I still have to listen & read the dialogue.
2 - Sometimes after browsing inventory/shop or dragging item, the item box becomes stuck on my cursor, even into the level, and I need to click on another item to make it disappear.
3 - too much extra animation. I really don't need to see the +1 skill pt thing for the 5th+ time. I also don't need to whole "omg it's an orb spinning" for the 3rd time. etc. We know what happens; we don't need to see all the 'magic' which just wastes time and takes away another star from my rating.
4 - wrong emphasis on many things. As others have pointed out; coins, exp, and levelling don't really do much. what matters are the crystals (& crafting), which take forever to accumulate unfortunately.
Initially the game was okay, but then it just became the same as most MMOs - grinding... The idea is nice, but what's the purpose of having heroes when we don't even move them during battles? All we do is sit there and wait until we win/lose. Kind of defeats a large point of the game. Also, the whole thing about only harvesting seeds 3x's daily, wait times for a lot of things, makes it really frustrating. Especially on Kongregate. Tried to get the medium badge in 1 sitting, but it's too difficult given how long it takes to get additional heroes etc.
Also, there were quite a few spelling and grammar mistakes that really got to me - e.g., "had summoned" or "forgotton".
Controls are a bit glitchy; namely shielding. Sometimes it holds the shield without my pressing space and is only deactivated by clicking elsewhere with the mouse or blocking an attack. Other times the shield doesn't work at all.
Great game; a bit too much grinding once you get to the 3 set of levels, and gems are worthless consequently. Also, kind of frustrating only 7 spell lots are allowed. I maxed everything and can't even use half of them easily.
So fricking annoying! I beat Acts I-III and when I went to export my save... it didn't let me! Just wasted 8 hours of my life...
Advice for new players who really want to continue the game... make sure your save files actually SAVE.
Game glitched on me in the first part. when upgrading townhall. I upgraded it BEFORE the ghoul part of the quest... and now it's saying "upgrade to lvl 2" when it's already level 2...
There's a little glitching that needs to be worked out. On level 11, I somehow made the pieces go through each other and they're look like they're seizing up when I try to move them more. Otherwise, great fun!
