There are so many shots coming at you that you can either use the antimatter shield, also called sitting there and not actually playing a game, or you can die. And the shield itself blinks around and moves erratically. The slightest mouse twitch in the wrong place on the screen and you get it. And considering you're trying to move quickly, this just makes it impossible.
This game isn't difficult, it's stupid. Your upgrades are a joke, the enemies become more powerful much faster than anything you can do. Killing the boss tanks is nearly impossible even if you dump every cent into damage upgrades. Your shield is nearly useless, and 9 repair packs is a drop in the bucket. Complete waste of time.
A series of bland RPG-style combat (this is not an RPG). Badly imbalanced. Fighting the hydra usually results in 2 instakill attacks, ending the game. Badly placed save points. And why do these morons happily rush to the next battle poisoned hurt and low on mana? Even the really bad RPGs don't have that problem. And that's supposed to be a story? Sheesh. Not worth the time wasted on it.
Good idea, bad execution. Weapon AI targets enemies based on day of the week & humidity, missions start you off in laughably bad tactical positions, enemies just warp directly to you with almost 2 or 3 seconds warning, and you have to have previous knowledge of the order enemy ships attack in some missions or you just lose.
"Hey Bob, I've got an idea. We finished building this huge miner and erected a truly impressive defense system around it. I think we should totally dismantle it, and then throw away all our minerals."
"But the enemy is like inches away, we can see them."
"Yeah! It's the last thing they'll expect."
"You're brilliant Ted, let's do it! Good thing you're on our side."
Poor execution of an old idea. Most of the weapons are useless, no way to upgrade hits, no way to shield yourself from enemy shots, etc. Level 29 by itself is reason enough not to bother playing this game.
And I thought Holy Tears was a bad level, Dive clearly takes the cake. Seriously, this level is a reason to stop playing the game. Really REALLY bad design.
Holy Tears is indeed a stupid level. The really wierd way the black goo works makes this level nearly impossible. It's far too easy to slide off or go right through it and die. Poor level design.
Has potential, but game mechanics are awful. Damage is way off, with most friendly units doing 1 pt of damage regardless of numbers. Makes game frustrating and not worth time spent.
Most of the units are useless, die like flies while enemies can take huge amounts of damage. Catapult controls are odd and awkward. Units only lasting a short time before permanently disappearing sucks. Bosses break the game. Way too many hp, way too much damage, especially the last boss' 'instant kill your tower or catapult' rapid fire horsecrap.
None of the very serious problems have been fixed: horrible turrets, enemies can hide inches from your ship, new enemies come in and gang up on you with the enemies that were hiding, very little $, horrible main gun, boring, repetitive, not balanced at all. Very obviously not playtested.
Serious flaws. Enemies spend way too much time off board and can easily accumulate and overwhelm you. Flak bursts behind enemies, which can easily outrun it. Repairs drones do damn near nothing compared to the damage you constantly receive. Main gun is way to slow to deal with swarms of small ships. Laser turrets are very weak and have poor aim. Needs work.
Losing all your cash when you die makes continuing pointless, just a lot of wasted effort. If you don't have money to upgrade, you lose. Half of the weapons are useless, the enemies have way more hp than you have ammo, so you you're stuck with the little pistol 'finishing off' 15 polar bears. Not 'Hard', just 'Stupid.
Challenges 1-4 are pathetically easy, and challenge 5 is retarded. Every single time night comes one of the advanced enemies runs up and wrecks my fortress ignoring everything else, and no amount of firepower stops it.
