Remember, when you give a press conference on the alien invasion, have a big sign behind you displaying "ALIEN INVASION" just in case any of the reporters are morons. Don't put any useful information there, no, no... low common denominator baby.
Archers-Tors FTW. Forget about soldiers once you have knights, forget about knights once you have Tor. Don't waste resources on soldier and knight upgrades, or their special buildings. Just build the 2nd and 3rd buildings for more unit point generation and the last one to make Tor cheap. If you are having trouble before unlocking Tor, build one knight building and upgrade them to lvl 1 stun. Always upgrade your archers--a few level 3 archers are worth more than a whole handful of level 1's. Everything else is about proper placement. The game isn't very difficult since there isn't an incentive to not lose lives (I rarely did anyway).
After you finish a game make sure to go back in and train 5 people to level 10 in all skills, then click on a building that lets you "leave the city" (helicopter, town hall, labs) and those 5 people will be the starter survivors in your next game.
Gold and Gems, after maxing those, Architect. Was that supposed to be a difficult choice? It's not. Defense=seriously? Seriously?? Who is walking into them that much?
If you want to win fast (your score will be low) buy revolver, uzi, AK, spitfire. Level up exp, money, repair, reload, and hp regen. You don't need more than 1 point in accuracy, if any--you should be shooting people close enough that it doesn't matter much. Repair as often as you can. Early in the wave you can repair while you reload. Reload speed is important to kill faster which leaves you more time to repair your truck before the next wave. I never even got to the point to buy the last two weapons, I was already driving away in my truck. Latter on when you have a bigger mob you can jump in the middle and drop a mine... it tends to blow their legs off and force them to crawl, which will give you a nice breather.
I don't know why anyone plays this game, it is so stupid--EXCEPT FOR JOEY. JOEY IS A GOOD BOY. JOEY IS A GOOD BOY. JOEY IS MY FRIEND. EVERYBODY LIKES JOEY. JOEY IS A GOOD BOY.
Lichs are the key to victory, since they cause interrupts and start hitting the enemy quicker than the melee skeletons. Once you get to "very hard" levels, don't even bother with normal skeletons any more. I got my command up to 12 and used about 3 giant skeletons and 6 lichs. Even so, those mother trees are a pain. Ironically, the "insane" level was easier.
In fact I just cleared all my data and restarted. I completed every quest and the only ability I leveled up was jumping. What is the point of leveling skills if all the power comes from your quest rewards?
Would be five star if it wasn't so easy. Some of the skills aren't really important because of that. Except for jumping, you could probably beat the game without leveling up anything. So you might as well max out cantering (besides, every elephant needs a little wobble in his walk).
I don't think the game needs a minimap. Why should we see any more than we already do? It is all a real racer ever sees. And I think that the difficulty is perfect with the speeds and slow downs. I might need to slow down, but I also get a boost. They don't get a boost. Seems like a fair trade off to me. The difficulty is right where it should be--please don't change a thing.
