7/14 was by far the best of this game I have seen since I started playing it (years). And the timing of this map was absolutely perfect: I should be doing my taxes now. It's the last weekend to finish, so naturally I procrastinate for a few hours by coming back here to play a bit. And what am I greeted with? The most perfect map ever :)
5/10 16:58 RFI, map green, emitters capped. I play like this: capping emitters is priority over covering a little more area in green but green area has to be maximised while capping emitters. No reactors, no mortars, only 5 blasters, any amount of everything else. At the end when the city flies to the portal, only the central pixel of the city's last location is not green.
Before you switch to survival mode you should build up energy production to 32. Any higher goes to waste, consumption is capped at 32. Also, surround every emitter with many blasters and a few mortars, and build several storage and speed nodes before you switch to survival mode. If you wanna go for an insanely long time, build more blasters than could be placed in range of emitters to have some spare to replace those that will be almost destroyed sitting in deep creep. Pulling the damaged back to a safe spot and waiting for them to slowly repair doesn't cost energy.
@SanderH112 Appreciate your ideas, but it would be nice if you could clarify a few things. How do you mean "hald-screen emitters, center emitters, mountainous landscape"? The position of emitters is not up to us players, it's automatic. So is the landscape. We do some challenges of forbidden building types (e.g. RKC, APO). Double speed creeper is only possible by increasing the game time speed, so it doesn't effect emitter output relative to in-game-time, so that's not an effective restricton for a challenge. 10 of a type building limit might be interesting for some maps, but I think the limit (10 or some other number) should be adjusted individually for every map, since the difficulty level greatly varies - some maps can be finished by building 5 collectors and no weapons or any other buildings.
I have an expensive time challenge idea, inspired by MasterJLord :) Top Collection Challenge - If you love to build a lot. Classic "who does it the fastest", but the target event has nothing to do with the standard game target of loading the totems. The target is simply 32 energy collection - top it out - as fast as you can. Why only 32 when collection can be higher? Because depletion can not be more than 32 and it takes long enough to build collection up that high. Can be combined with NBM and some other conditions or challenges (e.g. APO). Could be crowned by switching to survival mode if you wanna play REALLY long.
Hey guys. I miss you. This year I have mostly way too much stuff to do, so last time I was here was 4/19. Bozotic, you reacted to my comment on 4/20, but I didn't come back to see it then. Really sorry about that. Now I don't even know what was that challenge about. I used the APC abbreviation. What's that? Those comments ordered by time are now the 349th and 350th before I post this.
@Techhead7890 and @insanekun I wouldn't call it an obsession. But as EricFleet pointed out obviously the comments are full of time posts if a few of us do enjoy the challenge, and there's nothing wrong with that, since most people don't comment when they just play to cap off and green out. I like to dominate the map, too. That's what I do on most maps. I only play for a best time if I feel like it. But that's when we comment, so there you have a comment thread full of time posts, hints, tips, screenshots, special challenges and crazy competition :)
