Weapons affect the character's attack, which you can see next to their name in the party and upgrade menus after clicking on them. Other items you can see in the Items menu (which is inside the Rewards menu).
if it aint broke don't fix it. the original set up was fine, I had no problem navigating the menus and I knew where everything was. this new city hall tab and all of the recent changes just keep making things more confusing.
