Duct tape, your statement is inaccurate. If you took the time to read the FAQ, at http://www.disputedgalaxy.com/sf2.asp?SiteID=5&PageID=262&SectionID=0 , you'd know that the second to last question was....... "Q: Did you rip off Spaceforce/Continuum/Escape Velocity/Asteroids/EVE Online....?
A: My original Starfighter game was inspired by an old amiga game called Transplant, which was a good game, but didnt have nearly as many features as Starfighter. I did play EVE online for a month and a few ideas were from it (*cough*mining*cough*). But I didn't want to make a 2D version of EVE, I wanted the game to remain focused on the action and the skill of players rather than skill training and upgrades."
Everyone knows 100% is the whole package. "percent" comes from our good friend, Latin: "Per" means "For every" and "Cent" means 100. 100 per 100, or 100/100 = 1. As with the rain example, you're saying that it makes sense that 200 out of 100 times, it will rain? I think not. Ask a grade-school teacher to explain percents to you, please, before you come on here pretending you know something you do not. You have just looked like a fool in front of everyone for telling me that "If there was a 200% chance of rain, thatd just mean theres more of a probability of rain." Cut your loses. As I understand it, a threat level of 1 indicates a 100% probability of enemies spawning (as opposed to the other option, allies) and this is exactly what experience shows you--I've never seen a single ally in a S-0-anything sector in the entire time I've played this game. In a similar way, it does not make sense for there to be a threat 2 for example, or a 200% chance of hostiles spawning.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by a threat higher than 1. A probability of, say 2, is like the weather man saying there's a 200% chance of showers--does that make any sense?
You clearly didn't even read what I wrote. Size and power are NOT the same thing, they never were, and never will be. Furthermore, I have every right to respond to any comment you make, but that's beside the point, as this one was directed to everyone just as much as it was directed to you--end of story.
RE: Kyd.
Come on now, surely you know the number of members means next to nothing. Look at the illetest killers, with their 1K+ member base, of which approximately 400, last I checked, have precisely 0 kills, and a few hundred more have 1 or 2. No, the number of members counts for very little--skill in the ranks is far more important. The only two gangs with two people in it's member base at or above the rank of admiral are Darth's gang, DASP, out of 12-12, and my gang, TRA, out of 15-19. Unlike the IK and their massive numbers, my gang commands more than 100,000 kills, yet we've only got 130-ish members (Note that the 4 or 5 hackers that have been discovered in my member base, i.e., 5000 lives, etc., have been included in NONE of these tallies).
Bottom line: Stop barging about the size of your gang, that goes for kyd, and everyone else.
Hackers get way too much credit. Ben himself said that 95% of the strange things that occur are a result of lag. this is one of those things, it's actually really common. I'm sick and tired of being accused of hacking, I wasted two months of my life getting the status I have, and all you petty people have to say for yourself is "LAWLZORZ, HEZA HAXOR!!!!1111" Go away.
It's a bizarre bug, pwn. It says that for Daikun and I also. Obviously, as we've played for quite some time, and it's only shown up once or twice, it's pretty rare
Indeed. I didn't like it much myself, but Daikun really likes it, so you know it has to be good. The same can be said for the nymph, as redenmity made a name for himself in it.
DJStatika:
Please forgive me for disagreeing with you, I in fact have gone and played around as an alien a few times, and before posting that I tested it extensively. Seeing as you doubt me, I've taken a video. I hit the human heavy drone twice, the first time was a glancing blow for 15 damage, the second time was a direct hit for 21 damage. then I logged into my human account and fired at a defender, clearly scoring a direct hit for 9 damage, before the turrets begin their own type 3 barrage moments later (I will note it takes them quite a few hits, as you may notice if you count the damage jumps--far more than would be needed if they did 20 damage, or even 15.) If they were in fact supposed to be the same, then one of them must be bugged. The link to the video is: http://smg.photobucket.com/player.swf?refURL=/&file=http://vidmg.photobucket.com/albums/v280/TheMavirc/torps.flv&fs=1&os=1&ap=1
