What is the circle thing on L8 that costs $250? As far as I can tell, there's no description or label anywhere and clicking on it doesn't give more info. Dmg buff? Something else? Slower? Testing hasn't given a clear answer

Starting L11, alternate mg, red block then red block, mg x 3 or 4, with splash on top. It's cheaper and higher dmg and can get you through the tough levels easy.
Vs the acid spawn guys, an artillery early shuts them down completely. Pair it with a laser or missiles and you can win with just those 2 towers alone given enough time, even on L8. Works well vs the freezers too. It stops working vs human factions with artillery or fast regen shield, but I even used it vs a boss for a super fast kill on L7.
To beat any easy or normal level with ~5-8 towers:
1) Create 1-3 entry towers to steer the enemies
2) Make a square 4 block, with the far corner as an area splash tower
3) Send next for 5-15 levels so you can up the area splash to either $115 or $350
4) If needed, add a ghost tower to pick off strays
5) Send all waves
6) Add range, fire rate, & dmg around the splash tower
7) Sit back and relax
Occasional levels require an additional sniper tower to pick off strays, but usually this works fine. I've only tested on 1 hard level, and it worked fine there too.
Wow - got a Tier 1 result too!! I cleared around 22 dungeons and built up a crapload of buildings in the process from all the building materials from the dungeon.

Just leveled up Hunters Lodge to L2 and found another "easy" one that I previously didn't have too - might make sense to level up hunters lodge earlier
Whoo hoo! Just got the hard badge:
1) get all warrior stats (strength + constitution + combat stats) and cash to start
2) Use all building materials for rest place or barracks
3) Use all $$ for combat training
4) Keep adventuring to all places, sell armor, level up combat training
5) Later, buy L1 of all buildings, as that opens up another ~10 dungeons
6) For Red and light red dungeons, max out tactics from Strategic Combat training
7) Get lucky and get a weapon that has at least 50 attack
8) for the final 2 focus on Fire Mountain and the other light red one's as they are the easiest of the red's
20 weeks to spare!
I personally like that it's harder than many and has a unique game play that makes me think. 5/5. Nut shooters got me through act 1, and the upgraded ones through act 2.1 and 2.2
I liked it at first but then learned the spells are worthless as I beat every level without a spell by maxing out armor, attack, agility, and speed. I wish there was some strategy involved in the upgrades such as races that have super "people" defense but weak magic defense.
Great game! Last level took me a while to figure out as I first though reactors in a small area let me defend, but instead the right strategy is collectors up to the top quickly with blasters as the creep gets near. Then there's plenty of time to build tons of reactors, Sams, drones, and push them back.
I finally figured it out! Each wave the $$ per person raises $30. Maximize the $$ captured per path, ensuring you take all the money from everyone from every path. Level 2 building upgrade = 1.5 * Level 1 revenue. Level 3 revenue capture = 2 * Level 1 revenue. That means never buy toy shop or restaurant (waste of $$). Early use pet, then bout only if needed, upgrade, add another pet, then jewelry, then if needed night club to handle heavy traffic area's. I passed L 8 w/ $132k in the bank on day 23 with this and only lost 1 level as I forgot to repair a building in time.
Great game - much more strategy needed than the first so it's more satisfying beating each level. It's clear a lot of thought was put into the sequence of levels and strategies.
