The beginning levels were so easy that the game seemed dull at first. There didn't seem to be much point. It wasn't until around level #20 that it started to become a challenge. When I finally had to think about the puzzle, it became a surprisingly fun game.
This starts off entertaining. I like the variety of levels, some timed, some limited by numbers of moves so it's more about strategy. But as others have noted, at the higher levels it starts to come down to luck. Some scenarios are just unwinnable and so you have to re-play them over and over until the pieces fall just right. It's just not fun at that point.
I personally found the game frustrating as I'm very bad at games that require precise timing. However, I give it good marks for being a different kind of game. It's nice to see some variety and not just more of the same old thing.
I like the idea of this game, but the physics are frustrating. The level of math is very basic, so you imagine this game being designed for fairly young children. Yet children of that age don't have the fine motor skills for the precise moves necessary on some levels. It leaves me with the feeling that the either the game play should be easier (for younger children) or the math should be harder (for more skilled gamers).
Interesting concept, but I really disliked the controls. Having growth determined by mouse-over (rather than click) makes it awkward and thus not very fun to play.
This isn't actually a game. It looks more like someone was just testing their programming skills. There are too many incomplete "games" like this cluttering up Kongregate.
There are dozens of games just like this, but I had to give this an extra star for the animation. The poor little mouse is so sad when you drop the cheese.
Many of the differences are subtle color shifts. This isn't going to be a good game for anyone who is color blind or trying to access on a cheaper monitor. I normally like spot-the-differences kinds of games, but I quit this one on the second picture. When the difference comes down to one image being an item being blue-ish purple on one side and just blue on the other? Not fun.
Too easy to be entertaining as a challenge and too slow to be entertaining as a diversion. (I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that the console version has more challenging levels or at least smoother game play, but as an ad for that game this fails.) I also found the repetitive background music annoying after awhile and the only option for switching it off mutes all sound.
This game has potential, but it was a bit glitchy. I ran across several clues with the word "undefined" where presumably a suspect's name should have been. "...clue reveals undefined is..."
The levels are too long and repetitive to keep the game interesting. I prefer a little more variation and action in my games. I'd lost interest in this long before I achieved the badge and a game shouldn't feel like work.
There was a long delay between completing the final level and being awarded the badge. In the meantime, the game re-set to level 1 which worried me momentarily that I'd lost my chance at the badge (without even a screen shot to prove I'd made it), but the badge was automatically awarded a few minutes later.
Not challenging enough to hold my interest for long. I beat every level with minimal effort. I thought it was clever that the spawns were animated as tanks full of soldiers and liked that the maps varied in size and obstacles, so the game has potential. There just needs to be an increase in the difficulty before I'd rate it higher. 3/5
Not bad. Cute creeps. I love these tower defense games so I'm always happy to play a new one. The problem I had with the game was that even with the low quality setting, the game still lagged noticeably affecting tower placement, selection, and ability to upgrade quickly. I'd also like to see a menu/re-set option so that you can easily abandon what you realize is a doomed maze and start over.
I think this had a pretty good balance between frustrating versus solvable. Room escape games tend to irritate me because there's always some simple place where I get stuck and have to peek at the comments for hints. In this game it was when I had the posters, but couldn't figure out how to find the puzzles they were clues for. Once I actually got the puzzles open, I was able to solve them on my own.
