Solid game, the real strengths are the level design and the balance. I had enough fun that I was willing to see the kinda bunk equipment as a feature, rather than a bug — there's a lot of useless gear but because it's so expensive you end up figuring out how to do the levels with really minimal equipment, adding a lot more strategy than upgrade RPGs usually include.
It might be worth thinking through more playable factions to give more depth to this game (or a sequel).
I haven't watched the playthrough yet, which I think will answer some of my design questions, but I'm curious about whether there was a real balance strategy or if it was just guess and check planning that ended up being fun to play.
