Needs an instruction manual. Both times I had to use the walkthrough it wasn't because there was a mystery tactical element that I was missing but there was for cutting tricks that I don't see how I was supposed to guess. A pause button would also be nice. Still a good game. It's not Phage Wars, but if you liked Phage Wars odds are good you'll like this.
Artsy, but as bad gameplay as most artsy games. There was a lot of control lag that keeps the game from having replay value in my mind, but it's worth playing the once (twice if you want the good ending.)
Great game, educational and still worth playing for those of us who don't need the math lesson. 5/5. My one and only complaint is having a bonus card challenge for using all the pieces, since you can just put the unused parts in random squares to get them. It seems the better challenge would be to use a certain number or FEWER parts.
Lost my save data three times now. Got all the badges, but every time I reload I have to start from the beginning. I'm rethinking my 5/5, hope someone fixes this.
If I could make one and only one suggestion, it would be that the player stars with at least one spell. The MP bar is useless until the random generation system gives you a spell, then heal is so much better than everything else it's pathetic. Otherwise this is a nice simple game. No real whistles or bells, but it doesn't really need them.
The lack of instant death traps makes this better than Toss the Turtle. Few things are as pointlessly frustrating as dying to mid-air spike traps and you won't find those here. And an item that removes the need to tape down the right button is another great idea. It is annoying that there are items that seem to cost diamonds to buy but require more than you can get in the game, but overall it's still the best game of this kind I've played.
I loved this game for a while, but when I was ahead six thousand to two thousand and the computer gets a seven thousand point turn it feels like you have no control over the game. There is some strategy, but giving you -500 points for getting 3 zilches in a row (not to mention doing NOTHING for 3 turns) condemns this game to hell forever. Any sense of strategy is thrown out the window. When you win there is hardly a sense of accomplishment and when you lose it is infuriating. Just play another game and you'll be happier.
No sooner did I suggest they get a badge than they did, though it would have been funnier to have a 5 point badge for ALL achievements. Free 5 points yeah?
I appreciate the sentiment, and it is appropriate commentary on player ratings, but is really isn't a game. It is a series of encounters designed to annoy the player, so maybe 5minutesoff takes after the Hideo Kojima school of thought. What I want from this is for Kongregate to give this a badge, like a 5 point "easy" badge for getting ALL of the achievements and say a billion points. Then rather than feeling an uncomfortable suspicion that the game designer hates me and everyone else who plays the game, there would be a relieving certainty that yes, he does and Kongregate is in on the joke.
This is a great game and I hope that Kongregate staff lets it's creator keep it up. But this is not the first time someone has put this up and claimed it was theirs. Shame on you killmachine
I wonder of Franzibald is a reference to Penny Arcade. http://pennyarcade.wikia.com/wiki/L._H._Franzibald This game is stolen from Exploding Rabbit much like Song of the Sorcelator was stolen from Tycho Brahe. When stealing other's works, it is apparently important to mane your username a clue. Maybe he was expecting his own jet ski? http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2007/04/11/
I found two borderline copyright infringement to 8 bit Mario games in one day. This is less likely to get legal action than Super Mario Bros Crossover, since the protagonist is just some unnamed plumber, but it is ironic to find these games on the same day. My only complaint here would be the final level, but this is a nice short and game that isn't too simple or complex.
Level 25 is possible without using the spinning beam as a catapult. You can put a circle on the end at just the right length where it knocks the triangle dude off, then quickly put two more on so it hits the square guy on the next spin. It's not easy, but it does shave a little bit of time once you get the timing down.
Don't rate this low just because it's a demo, enjoy it (or not) for what it is: a short game. It's hard to make this much variance with the simple set pieces and I imagine even harder to extend this to a full game so stop complaining about things that aren't relevant to the enjoyment of what is on Kongregate.
