Great game. Beat Loki fourth try with 54 shield, 75 energy and 99 damage.
Aiming system takes a little getting used to, but once you open up other, better weapons, this is completely remedied.
Plot was simple but entertaining, even with some clear translation issues.
All in all, 5/5.
I don't much like upgrading to hurt more than not upgrading, speed just made the bot hurtle into enemies, bullet spread turned a decent long range problem solver into a hyper short range spread gun.
Not bad, not perfect. 4/5.
The animation is well done, but if you receive enough damage you end up unable to move, screen bouncing like a trampoline, and since soldiers don't show up if you don't move....
To those people who are whining at people for being "dumb" if they don't get the story... the critique of games based on gameplay instead of plot is valid, especially on a site devoted to games.
Not that the plot is particularly amazing. Your actions are ultimately meaningless, either: You are indispensible to the family for them to survive, and therefore they die shortly after you do, or you are unnecessary to the family to survive, in which case either you are a crutch they use and abuse until you break and die, or your departure is largely meaningless towards their lives.
Your actions therefore have only two outcomes that have anything to do with you: Either you die and it snows, or you live and it doesn't. I hate snow, so I guess leaving is the best end and is less work.
3/5 Not bad for an "artsy" game.
Strongly reminiscent of the Mushroom TDs by fortunacus, and none the worse for it. Selling "lives" is an interesting touch, though the game is a little slow paced for my tastes. 4/5
