@yfilc: phoebe's forge is Wizard Rod (You get on Astraea's Bastion) + Seal of Magi->Staff of the Magi. You get the Seal on an area a bit ahead of the forge, though. After beating Puff No More go to the area up from it and you'll find it.
Continuation 2: Piercer+Emerald Globe->Dartanian. Rusty Dagger+Alkahest->Trusty Dagger, +Ruby Shard->Assassin Dagger. Rusty Dagger+Gorgon's Blood->Cursed Kris on Theia's Forge. For mages, Stick+Sapphire Shard->Apprentice Wand, +Gaea Seed->Imp Branch, and on Themis' Forge, Imp+Necromancer Heart->Deadwood Staff, the best. Also, on Phoebe's, Wizard Rod+Seal of Magi->Staff of the Magi. Combining any ore with Alkahest gives you Projectiles (Throwing Stars or Darts). Shields: Wooden+Iron Ingot->Round, on Nymphs' combine with Old Knight's Memento to get Warrior's, +Iron Globe->Blast, on the Forgotten Forge combine it with Beetle God Essence to get Beetle God Shield. Armor, do this for each piece separetedly: Leather Armor+Plate->Plate Armor. Leather Armor+Golem Talisman->Golem Armor, +Minotaur Talisman->Minotaur Armor, these are the best for melee. Old Guard Armor+Paladin Talisman->Paladin Armor, +Saint Talisman->Saint Armor, the best for mages.
Continuation 1: About Items, you can basically combine an Empty Bottle with 3, 6 or 12 Herbs to get a Small, Medium or Large Potion. Combine Large Heath and Mana Potions to get Ambrosia, the ultimate recovering item! Combine 5 Antidotes with a Medium Health Potion to get Panacea, that recovers poison, stun, freeze and slow. Equipments have a lot of combinations: Iron+Hide->Shank. 3 Wood+Iron Ore->Wooden Sword, +5 Iron Globes->Razor Sword(one of the 2 best melee weapons in the game). Scimitar+Sapphire Globe->Titan Scimitar. Militia Sword+Leather->Regal Sword, on Mnemosyne's Forge you can craft it into Scholar's Sword with Sorcerer's Sapphire. Iron Ingot+Timber(3 Wood)->Nail Bat, +Iron Globe->Vindicator Club, on Rhea's forge you can craft it with Paladin's Mace (that you craft with Peace Baton+Angel's Tear on Thetys' Forge) to get the Morning Star, the other best melee weapon.
Just a quick crafting guide for you: Out of all Materials, only the Ores and their derivates, Alkahest and Empty Bottles have lots of uses. Other than them, you can only make a few useful things, most at the begginning of the game: Shank, Wooden Sword, Nail Bat, Beetle Shield, Regal Sword (that you use one Leather). Basically all materials are useless other than those. But don't sell the useless ones right away! Combine 3 of one material with 3 of the same, and you'll get an item. Combine 3 of these with an Alkahest and you'll earn much more money than the raw materials! (These combination steps also work for ores, making first the full ore/ingot, then transforming it into a Globe).
The Morning Star has +28 STR +3 MAG, plus a chance to stun, but the Razor Sword (=wooden sword(3 Wood + Iron Ore)+5 iron globe) has +28 STR +3 DEF, that is, the same attribute for STR, more DEF and you can get it far earlier, at only the cost of no stun.
The timer and achievements for low time are a pretty bad thing on a game where you need to wait for the perfect situation. Specially when you need to wait for the guy randomly enter a place where you know the guards won't see him, so you can get those achievements. Also, it IS a game where you get bored of the easy levels fast, so why do you need to beat every single level to find out what's the next? Unlock the first level of each difficulty so we can have a peek on how hard the game can get! Oh, btw things based on luck aren't difficult, they are frustrating. Having the same levels on different difficulties only changing the number of guards isn't fun, since you already thought about the routes on that level before, they are just frustrating because this time you need to avoid more and more guards. Yeah, it has a bit of skill but still has a considerable luck factor.
How to get any skull achievement, easy way (you only don't get the gold if you die): Equip the bug eyes, which have a power of wiping out all people, and all the other parts you like to use. On the begginning of the level, press and hold the spacebar ASAP. I you did right, you'll go offscreen. Wait a bit, let go of the spacebar (because the game has a little bug with pressing more than 2 keys at once), use the wipe-out power and press and hold the spacebar again, and repeat this until you get the gold. Then just let go of the spacebar and destroy the city as usual.
Stop complaining about the shot mechanics! They're useful imo. Basically you shoot to the side of your ship which is pointing more upwards, to shoot with the side pointing more downwards you need to press "V". I just got the hard, following harvestsun's and XenoShadow215's guides, and beating the last boss by boarding it with a little bit less than 100 pirates, with 18 survivors at the end. Yeah, the engaging mechanics are luck-based, for beating the last ship you should need not much less than 80 to have a chance, and 120+ to have a sure win.
All secret medals: Click your money twice, get the "Brick", which is under the "Whirlybird 512" on the gliders, destroy anything with the Brick, click on the beak of the penguin on the main menu (you're cheating if you did that before beating story mode), click the last medal. "It's Rob!" happens randomly when you run out of fuel at somewhat high altitudes, but distance and speed doesnt matter. "Rise!" Also happens randomly, but when you stop at the snow (that is, when you would finish your day).
For everyone getting confused about the view changing, when changing you automatically go to the square nearest to you. So want to get to the other side of the platform you are on? Just flip it.
I really would like to see a way for viewing the level NOT centered on you. Sometimes it's so large I can't see it all in a way I can understand it.
Oh My God. This. Game. Is. Awesome. It's been a while since I don't read books with such a good story, let even alone games! Really, I can remember of a single game with such a good story as this one, and that was years ago. Certainly, there are several minor improvements you could make, like custom keymapping and interaction with dialogues, but this certainly is a 5/5 game nonetheless.
I finished beating the game with all duck types... I unlocked the ultimate duck on the arcade... But its nothing more than the same training fields, but painted white and using the ultimate duck... Yeah, no replay value...
It seems that the best character is nattalie. You unlock new levels by beating the latest, and the bonus by getting A ranks (5 each). The characters are unlocked at the same time as the bonus levels.
game breaking bug: sometimes while wandering around you'll disappear and the map will become strange (seems like something like an out-of-boundaries glitch). If you kill something when you are in there you start getting xp non-stop and items will start dropping like crazy. If you kill somebody by charging into them if they are there the same happens, but you cant move.
