Make the next game harder!!! This is a good start, and very entertaining, but after maxing the upgrades I literally can hit him with the LEAST force and make it all the way to the grave without even looking at the game. The upgrades aren't even hard to max, and if I actually pay attention, I'm sure I can get close to 3 million if I wanted. There are many ways to do so, too: Infinite mode, challenge mode, scale things differently, etc.etc. Overall though, I'd say 4/5. Pretty good game, can't wait for more :)
Nothing about this game is good. It lags when switching colors and after shots, new colors will come up and steal shots that were heading toward other colors, the aiming system is beyond terrible, the lack of variety in both normal and challenge mode (as well as other modes) is incredibly dull, and the only "challenge" in challenge mode is trying to beat an almost impossible bar decrease rate with the above problems. 1/5 for an original idea, but that's ALL this game deserves.
First, I have to say that I was disappointed in how short and lacking it was compared to the first game. However. Having said that, this game surpasses any other Flash game I've played in terms of graphics and smoothness. If you could somehow make this into a console game, you'd have an instant seller. It's truly, astoundingly beautiful, and I am in awe even after beating it. I also liked that you gave the storyline in this one, and am now eagerly awaiting more games from you. 5/5, and anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they are talking about.
This game is perfectly fine when appealing to people who like it; in other words, those who write, follow, and understand the guides that are out there and those who play the game AFTER the map room is upgraded. However, Kongregate doesn't ONLY appeal to those players; in fact those players make up a very small percentage of Kongregate users. I think the complaints are justified: it feels like once they gave it the hard badge Kongregate forced us to play a game for THAT long when we have no desire to continue playing it. (We in this case being people who have almost perfect badge collections).
"Hey guys. We're in these incredibly powerful armored suits with highly-advanced technology. All we have to do is shoot these bugs with slow moving lasers that cause them to burst at the slightest impact."
"Sir, we're out of ammo."
"O.o We're all going to die."
I closed my laptop to move from one place to another. When I reopened it, I received an error message, followed by a message stating "We have detected that you are trying to hack the game." I don't know what detectors you are using, but I'll be pissed if I lose my base over something like that.
To add onto my previous statement, if I enter a battle, the monsters have 0/0 HP, do not attack, and do not lose damage. The only thing I can do is increase my stats, but that does nothing to advance the game. This happened right after I completed the Grand Master Tournament, so.
Okay, I didn't like this game to begin with, but mine just BROKE. Literally, I'm stuck in March, every time I complete a month the entire counter goes up (from Week 4 Month 0 Year 0 to Week 1 Month 1 Year 1, but still March), there are no tournaments and no matches being given. Seriously, I can't get the hard badge or anything else after several hours of play. This is beyond outrageous, both for the developer, and for Kongregate.
So, another good game. Debating on 4/5 or 5/5. However, I will say what would have swayed my opinion: At the end of the game, you are left on the "Thank you for Playing" screen with the Jack'o'lantern. You should have put in to where you can light up the background with the item, revealing an image to the sequel. THAT would have been awesome.
I'm glad that it's a proper sequel, but the game feels and plays the EXACT same as the first one. It's still good, but it feels like you just took the first one and put new layouts to it. The extra weapons and ability to pick your starting weapon is a nice touch, but it needs something new to be a truly great sequel. Still, it's an amazing platformer, so 4/5 from me.
@Byere, the blue highlighted armor pieces for Protection are actually % buffs. You can see this and other buffs through a button in your Inventory screen. Note that you probably have higher than 60 Protection available, but the buff is capped at a lower percentage. In order to increase the cap, you need to raise your Mysticism skill by buying books from the shop. Alternatively, you can increase your armor's protection by crafting a special potion in your home called Oil of Polishing.
Dunno if it's a common glitch, but I have 305 BP, and there's nothing on the Medal screen that awards just 5 points. It may be that something worth 50 only actually gives you 5, so it may be something that needs to be fixed.
Great game by the way. :D
The turning makes this game terrible. Why the heck can you only turn 30 degrees?? The only place to lose this game is on the turns, and when you turn you have no choice but the either slow down or crash. Yet when you "slow down," you have to lose up to 50%-75% of your speed before you recover, which CPUs can easily catch up with you. Lose-lose situation at the only point of challenge gives this game a 3/5 at best, for me.
I don't see how to do well in this game. You have a limited supply of money to buy troops, and it's impossible to max out units each level with this limited money. You also need to buy new troops, so it's entirely money based. The new troops are all completely random, so it's really the luck of the draw. Finally, should you lose, they take away your money, making it even more limited. 3/5 at best, I don't see any strategic value in this game.
Using energy has become a common theme in many games. Look at Critter Forge and other games that have gotten great reviews for the same timed systems. 1 energy per minute is actually extremely fair. Quit screaming about it, it's a way to keep people with the game and make what would otherwise be a twenty minute game last for a good amount of time.
As for increasing the cap, ANY TIME you have a variable energy limit, glitching or hacking or abusing it to defeat it's purpose will become so easy, the game's main idea is ruined. (proof: Assassin's Creed Facebook App.)
If you're going to carbon copy a game, get their systems right. I had several issues with Frost Power, and all the triple notes aside that did not have green in them I couldn't hit. I found several bugs, though I'm not sure how to describe them, so I won't list them. Lastly, if I miss a note, I'd like it to count as one miss, not ten for holding down the wrong note. I could be 100% up to a triple note, attempt to hit it, be off one key and lose in literally 2 seconds. I can only give this a 2/5, the cons outweighed the pros, and I stopped having fun halfway through.
