I think there needs to be some kind of better balance in leveling. Like some kind of deterrent for rebirthing. As it is, it seems like most people just do age 17>20 getting all the the easy ap, rebirth and repeat until you max out. Sometimes you go longer for skills that require more ap, but still... Also, magic attack seems to be the only stat you don't have listed and whose effect is not made clear at all. (Is it better to get Magic Atk + 1 or an extra 20 Int, what do they do for spell damage/effect exactly)
Something needs done with mage eq and spells. I'm not high level yet, but at low level mage gear is absolutely useless (cast chance + 0) for example and spells do no where near as much damage as a good normal weapon plus cost mp to actually use.
There is some kind of bug that makes it so I only get money from a run when I go the garage. If I don't go to the garage and just hit the redo button, I don't get money for that run.
Pretty fun, but the lack of speed combined with number of times most people will need to replay levels to unlock and get boosts without paying makes the idea of anyone actually "beating" or "maxing" this game completely absurd. The time needed would just be astronomical. It might not be bad if there was more variety, but as is it comes off as the worst kind of grind and "pay to win" which people find off-putting. In other words too grindy + resembling "pay to win" = much lower score/plays than it would otherwise get.
In a word: Meh. Beat it without needing to repeat any levels. Feedback: Lane balance needs fixed (rounded random gives 2 and 4 way more). Melee is useless except as a stop gap until wall refreshes. Lane bomb makes it very hard to lose once you get it (long cool down doesn't matter if you only need it on one lane>2 or 4). Never touched freeze, no solo hard units just masses so not needed. Pointless upgrades are just not funny, at least make them give a cosmetic change or something. Very very very short--seems like a 24/48/72 hour type game, which is fine, but minimal content means lower stars.
Suggestions:
1) Balance skills, some are incredibly useful (armor break) and others are near useless as are.
2) Revisit gear bonuses. +hp/mp shouldn't have the same # boost as core stats do.
3) Metal bars need a repeatable way to be earned. It can be time consuming or hard, to keep people buying, but should be possible.
4) Slave prices need fixed or stats and skills need a way be reset, as it is trying different builds is not an option. Also exp for those in school would make leveling a whole team more feasible. 5) +1 to things mentioned about exp bonus for higher mobs, AI fixes/options, graphic options, and blocking/shield durability.
It would be nice to know the number on the specials (crit chance + multiplier, bonus poison/freeze damage + duration, explosion area/damage percent, etc), does special upgrade on sniper or slingshot do anything? If not it should be disabled.
Mechanics/Suggestions (continued)
- Make the role and use of heros apparent to the player (same with leaders). They seemed to die far to fast and do far too little good for the cost and time to create them.
- As mentioned, the fire hero level is out of whack with the difficulty curve unless you teach players to play better earlier, or make it evident that you want them to just get the totem and not kill the others (if that is the idea).
Cool game though, very Populous-like as mentioned and different from 90% of the retread flash games.
The mechanics of this need to be a bit clearer to the player. (have to put this in two posts because of length)
- What each spell does: For example why use the firestorm instead of thunder storm when they appear to do the same thing but one is 1/3 cheaper.
- Make clear how units go about targeting, is it nearest or something else? Seemed kind of random at times.
- Make clear when a unit will build a new building and how the whole process works. I couldn't get the last level until I puzzled this out a bit by watching the CPU go about building a few times.
