A couple explanations. The sock is one use, you can buy more than one at a time and it will use them all at once, but I only did this against santa so I am not sure they exactly 'stack' just that you have 0 after a use. Both 'Flame of Hope's, however, are multiple use, you will need them for the last few guys. Here's the biggie, although you get more coins for doing a lot of damage at once, if both characters loose the last of their life in the same round, then the whole thing is a draw and it goes to a 'best hit wins' match, which you can also get coins during and should aim to smash a guy as hard as you can(in order to weasel more coins) when this happens.
This is going to sound really obvious but
Don't watch the flock leader, watch the (homing) circle. Esp if you're going for Bourgeoisie.[and for the time and distance runs, drag your flock a bit, you only need one to survive]
