Good game. Would be even better if no mouse was required, or is this possible already? Keep command line on top, and close jpg, camera view and such through command line.
@Criizzash, the characters from hiragana and katakana are phonemes/syllables. Hiragana is mostly used for grammar and particles, and some common easy to recognize words. Katakana is used for foreign words (e.g. terebi = TV) and onomatopoeia such as animal sounds. Last but not least is kanji which originates from China and is pictographic. Kanji can have multiple pronounciations, but added hiragana and context can help determine the right pronounciation.
Good concept. I liked how you have to look for the shape of the kana. Could be better if the transparency was somewhat lower, cause I could hardly find the kana. Maybe add in some bogus kana or random kana for distraction purposes.
Fun game, similar to bejeweld series. I liked the coupling of the sound to the kana. The game itself might not be suited for anyone to learn kana. It does not force you to recognize the kana, since you can also choose to match colours irrespective of what symbol it has on it. However, unconsciously you might pick up some Japanese syllables without knowing it.
A suggestion to motivate people connecting the sound to the kana is to play a 'sound' and let them create the corresponding 'sequence of kana tiles'. Then give extra points/time for it when people connect the hinted sound to the tiles.
Last but not least, the music needs a Mute button.
Looking forward to version 2.
Good game. I really like the possibility to match hiragana and katakana. First time I've seen that in kana learning game. It really forces you to think what syllabary it is you're looking at, and how it looks like in the other syllabary. Also, when matching hiragana and katakana some similarities becomes more apparent.
Maybe it is an idea for version two to match 3 writings: hiragana, katakana, romaji at the same time. Also, time battle might be cool.
Overall a good game. Very underrated, so I give it 5/5
Thanks for your feedback. I am glad that you like the game.
I will introduce the 3-writings match and a time battle in the next version as you suggested, along with something extra.
Nice concept. I like how the kana are splashed on. Gives me trigger feeling of either recognition of the kana or no recognition. Definitely needs a spin-off or version 2 without bugs.
Nice game. Loved the concept of shooting only the puppets with kana you know. Also nice to be able to select hiragana/katakana or both. Maybe even better when you add item such as 'Shield' so you dont fail immediately after losing one kana (bounce it back instead, so you can retry that kana). Or maybe add bullit time/ slowmotion option.
Other option you can add is coloured dakuten. I think it might reduce difficulty to recognize kana for beginners.
Also, I'm really lazy, so I dont like to hit enter/space every time after typing a kana. For game play it might be nice to an option to automatic check after every entered letter if it is correct. E.g. the 'kyo' kana check first letter k=correct, y=correct, u=fail.
I enjoyed the game. Keep up the good work.
Pretty good. I like the graphics and game play. Sounds and some visuals can be improved. For instance, a reload sound for the standard weapon, and making the ocean transparent. Last but not least, needs AUTO-fire!!
