Would have liked for the puzzles to be harder as the mechanics were nice and could actually make for some tricky challenges, but very intriguing story.
I would call it a maze puzzle game with math elements. It's definitely not pure trial and error; there's a lot of elimination you can do to weed out bad paths before you waste your time trying them. The music and visuals are soothing too. Good game.
The zillion upgrades and super fast pace along with a very forgiving die/save point system (you'll die a lot but it doesn't really slow you down at all) make this game really addicting and probably the best of its kind that I've played on kongregate.
I like the mechanics and the overall system, but having to run underneath and around enemies to avoid dying, even when youve long since solved the puzzle, gets annoying
I'd like to see the grid widened beyond 9x12. As it stands the game doesn't offer much challenge; guess and check can figure everything out quickly. I think you could offer a bigger challenge to people who wanna get all the stars and still allow people who just wanna play through to do that. Great game anyway.
Very comparable to the types of puzzles that were showcased in early JRPGs on the NES and SNES. Except here it's ONLY the puzzles and not the wall of text and no-strategy combat and horrendously repetitive random battles. The puzzles were always the best part of those games. I like the "pay to skip puzzle" mechanic because it allows a player to move on even when stuck, but the cost to skip puzzles should be higher imo.
Awesome game. It's got enough of a platforming element to it that it doesn't seem like just reading a textbook but the solutions to all the puzzles are very logic-based and don't resort to gimmicks like you see on many puzzle platformers. Good balance. This is definitely the kind of videogame that does NOT fry one's brain, this shit enhances your brain.
Really fun little game. It's challenging enough not to be a cakewalk but not enough to really frustrate you too bad, perfect for a timekiller flash game. Also you move a hell of a lot faster on this than you do on katamari damacy, which in some respects makes the game more exciting, katamari is more about methodical movements where this game is more about flying across the map as quick as possible. I'd love to play more of these games, the possibilities for environments are pretty much endless. I'd like to see a level on a military battlefield.
You can play the entire game by just leaving the room during the grinds, coming back and upgrading, then leaving the room again for the next grind. I don't know how anyone could become genuinely invested in this. Other grinders at least give you the illusion of requiring skill, in this one you just point the gun forward and that's it, there's nothing else.
Starts off kind of fun. Gets repetitive quickly though, it's hard to really feel like you're doing anything skill-based when your bullets are flying all over the screen and obliterating everything, or you by pure luck get a few turbo boosts in quick succession, or the air force helps you lol. Likewise it's hard to feel like you're doing anything wrong when you don't get the right bonuses on the road.
Great game mechanics, there's definitely potential on that front. The graphics were whatever, I didn't like or dislike them. I found the music to be far too minimalist and repetitive, needs to be more atmospheric with a greater variety of chords/notes. The game is FAR too easy the puzzles need to be harder to figure out. Just my opinion.
This and The Company of Myself are the best two flash games I've ever played. Their mechanics are totally different but they both force you to think, hence giving you a high level of satisfaction when you figure out the solution, and they both have stellar stories. I had to cheat with a walkthrough for the last level of Company of Myself, I beat Fixation without cheating, as such Id say CoM is a tad harder but it's close. They both stumped me at times.
Phoenix isn't broken. At 7 air mana plus 10 fire mana it is the most expensive unit in the game by far and with a modest 6 attack it doesn't exactly make quick work of the creature in the opposing slot. If your opponent makes a phoenix you speed the game up and kill him before he can make more. The phoenix army is a viable strategy but it's definitely not unbeatable. At least not in balanced 60hp vs. 60hp matches.
Thanks :D
