To people who have trouble seeing the small game window on a high resolution screen. Your browser probably has a zoom in feature to make it easier to see.
Feels kid of unfinished. The controls feel good and the graphics look OK, but the cars seem kind of randomly positioned and the driving feels monotonous. Also, once I've finished the game how do I get back to the start menu?
There's something really buggy about this game. It's frozen up on me twice, and one time it started a level with a blank map and unit costs of -7.5 and NaN. Other than that, it seems pretty good so far.
Kind of cute, but after all the retracing my steps and re-killing the re-spawning enemies I'm getting REALLY bored, and I'm only at 17/45 locations visited. Giving up now.
It's OK, but not as good as the original. Things that made the original Asteroids better include having the rocks split into several smaller pieces when hit, having the rocks' momentum change when hit, and of course flying saucers.
Also, no explosion effect when the rocks blow up?
Don't talk apologize for your bad graphics, etc. Playing a game with simple graphics is fine, reading the author's whining about how bad their game is isn't. Also, if you know you're weak on writing and story, why are you making a story-based game? It would be better if you just got straight to the tower-defense without all the text.
Better than average for a first-time learning game, but a long way from being really polished.
BTW, if lo-fi goofy sound effects isn't the style you're trying for, there's lots of websites out there with collections of free effects clips that sound OK.
A few comments in no particular order:
The "directions" button doesn't do anything. At least hook it up to a placeholder screen so it's not confusing.
Why the fancy custom mouse pointer, since the mouse doesn't do anything in the game? Also, why does it go behind the "what to do" box?
When you win or die, it just suddenly snaps to the menu screen. There should be some sort of animation or transition, otherwise it just feels like "what happened?"
When you jump into a platform from below, sometimes you move around it and sometimes you pop up through it. Would be better if you bounced back down.
There's something odd about the logic for which direction smiley faces. Sometimes I've been moving right and he ends up looking left.
It needs some sort of animation or something to indicate when you're taking damage. At first I thought hitting the bad guys wasn't doing anything until I looked over at the health bar.
3/5 The game is fun, but it needs some polish.
Make a way to turn off the music.
Dying and restarting is too quick -- the player needs time to let go of the keys and control the restart.
Some of the levels are really fun, but some are just "run right as fast as possible".
Also, why five different minor upgrades to the same game? now that you've gotten some feedback, take the time to really finish it all the way don't just keep posting your development builds.
2/5. It's OK if a game is funny, but it still has to be fun to play. Making me play through an awful, useless, RPG is not a good way to mock awful, useless, RPGs.
