The saddest part is that this game represents how life works for most people: 1) get educated (or not) 2) get a job 3) find a woman who calls you taking care of her financially in return for sex, 'love' 4) gather as much money and stuff as possible before you die.

At first this game seems very nice and there seems to be a nice amount of 'progression' by all kinds of new things - however, after a bit of trying out different things, I have started wondering how much of it is complete bullshït, as I went for weapon & ammo upgrades first to get rid of the people running after me and what d' ya know, suddenly there's MORE of them to kill and a crazy amount of big guys as well even though i had only gotten to the first gate (not through it either)! More explanations of where things come from and why things happen would be nice as I feel like those upgrades were a complete waste of time - the only difference is that if I dont blow the enemies up, there's way too many to dodge all the stuff they throw, unlike before when there was 2-3 of them at a time.

Cool game but the layout thing fûcks it up completely. You should just remove the whole layout requirement as long as the colors are in the correct sequence.

Website hit fishing by positioning a link directly where player clicks for skills on screen that pops up immediately when battle ends = automatic 1/5 rating.

Rolling should happen when you press shift (to whatever direction you're going to at the moment) instead of double tapping as currently its impossible to do reaction dodging. Companion AI needs revamping, as well as the rogue companions stats (he's always the weakest and dies long before anyone else, even at same upgrade levels) - archer not being alot behind that (only staying alive longer due to the retarded amount of running away it's doing). There needs to be better rewards for completing the additional challenges in levels. This is a very good game regardless of those though and is worth building a sequel on (more companions, choosing which ones to bring to non-restricted levels, equipment that changes the way the character works slightly [not just stat based difference], resettable general upgrades [pts rewarded from the challenge levels]. There's a few ideas. )

Would require a bit more polishing (better/more interesting assortment & arrangement of items & upgrades, in general the way information is being given to the player seems very 'test-phasey') and more/better content (only having 3 random missions to choose from is pretty boring and doesn't feel like there's any kind of progression, just grinding the same stuff over and over for points to upgrade stuff) to qualify as a full game, other than that, the concepts in it so far are solid and a game can be built on them.

Otherwise I would cry copycat, but this is far better than the one that came before it. This is the way games should be copied - by making them better in the process. :)

may have been a nice game at some time, but right now you can enjoy the game until you run out of missions (and cant beat the first boss yet), after that it would require hours and hours and days and years of grind to get anywhere.

How about instead (or as an alternative) to clicking, the demons would get whipped by simply having the cursor over them? Could add upgrades to that as well. Just saying 'cos you know, you can only click so many times before the mouse microswitch goes kaboom.

Using math sure is fun, but try to remember to either a) make progression slow enough that hiring more than 10 of the beginning ones makes some sense or b) to make the difference between the first ones and the last not be too big that the first means jack shit after playing for 2 minutes. Learn how to make a game.

Would be nice to have some kind of a guidebook to reveal information about how things really work. Makes me kinda perplexed to see tips like "Apprentices level up with their masters", how the f*ck is that related to the heroes?

You can put points into locked skills (without any benefit it would seem) and when you reset your skills, you lose the points you put in skills that were locked. Bleh. Otherwise is a nice'ish game :)

Nice game, i like the style and the 'upgrade' system is fairly original (especially among flash games), though quite limited. Now to the little things that plague it: Somebody might want to find the difference between difficulty (challenge) and grind (time consumption). Balancing difficulty for a game is difficult (notice: not a grind) - this however is no excuse for the developer to use the [oh-so-popular-among-those-who-just-cant-bother-] "linear progression impossible, grind until it is easy enough for you" -scaling in it. More difficult would be: More enemies / More bullets / Tougher enemies / More powerful enemies (or the counterpart: more fragile player). Great concept, Fine implementation, Barely-satisfying variety of upgrades, Poor polishing. 3/5, but definetly has potential to be a 4-5/5, perhaps in the sequel?

Developer response from AmberHelix

I like grind and skill based difficulty better than purely skill based difficulty, which is why the game is designed that way. Some grinding is definitely necessary, but on easy I think very little is needed, especially if you play every stage. The difficulty is supposed to be overwhelming, or at least appear so at first, and you are supposed to die a lot, its part of the story. And since on harder difficulty you have less experience you are more fragile, and do less damage, so enemies are more powerful, so that's already the way the difficulty works. Anyway, I am happy that you like the game. =)

Great game! One slight problem though that becomes apparent when you get bigger: Ramming. Even the smallest little f***s can blow you to hell by ramming you, which is ridicilous considering they are actively trying to do just that and unless you build yourself mainly out of speed cells, you wont have the speed to dodge them. No, armor cells do nothing to these twerps as they punch through them.
