It took a while to figure out that the first level is *not* the original version of the game -- rather, it has only one active control at a time, and doesn't recognize walls. Still, fun enough to make it worth the trip to the site.
The tutorial says that the space bar or "S" attacks.
Space bar doesn't work, so I have to dedicate one hand to the mouse to click. This effectively sinks the game.
How do I find out what the icons mean? There are icons on some of the monsters, unexplained within the game. The "liner notes" claim that all the play is contained within the game. FAIL
Any troubleshooting hints on Demon Challenge 2? That's 666 royal exchanges in under 666 seconds. I am on the Demon bloodline, mercenary contract, and bought 99+99+99+99+90+90+90 exchanges, avoiding demon exchanges. Time was barely over 7 minutes (420 seconds), but the challenge wasn't satisfied. Hints? It appears that I've now wasted this reincarnation as far as the challenges are concerned.
I just found a pair of flaws fatal to my playing this game long term: (1) the game doesn't continue when I'm off line; (2) when connected, the game consumes an annoying quantity of system resources. These destroy the "idle" aspect of the game: it can't advance my cause unless my CPU provides step-by-step management. Also, I've discovered that the game's promise that I could "start a family" is entirely false; all I can do is get married and continued grinding the farm with a partner. FAIL. Nice beta, shows promise, but can't compete for my gaming attention.
I just got my first merchant reward, some sort of book with a 12-minute countdown timer. What is this thing? Again, with no documentation, I'm at a loss.
Too many real-time bugs. Most of all, there's no game guide to explain things my farmer persona would know, such as how *much* watering to use on things, or how to interact with other game characters. Also, the real-time interface consistently wastes time by not properly pipe-lining click-ahead sequences.
Is there any hope of getting exactly 480 assistants for a poor R6-R7 player? I've already given up on a couple of the tier 1 spell challenges, since computational bugs prevent tracking them (e.g. 13x assistants).
Slow to respond to controls, upgrade paths are clunky, and some stretches of no action that don't seem to make any sense. Nice idea and format, but the coding needs work before this gets released into the wild.
I went for "Efficient Magic" this morning (about 11am) and got Holy Light cast over 60 times in 18:30 (as shown on the info page). I've been in the game for over an hour now; when does my success (i.e. green check mark) appear?
Today's Monkey Teams bonus (spikes + ninjas) isn't working for me. I just beat my beacon challenge with 2 spikes + 3 ninjas, but the reward I got was only the 5 Bloonstones for losing no lives. This happened once before; then, I think I got a bonus pack instead. Not a good trade-off when I'm trying to build.
@JasonMel: There seems to be a serious connection problem. I haven't been able to load this for about 16 hours now, and Bloons TD 5 can't find my account.
Gee, so many of my personal design peeves in the intro: (1) put inappropriate words in my mouth, killing any sense of role playing; (2) grammar errors; (3) annoying music I can't turn off; (4) "dead time" in the plot that I can't skip past; (5) mandatory time-wasting self-promos. Yes, there are options connected to volume -- but there's no obvious way to change those. The clicking that works on the Boolean choices fails on the percentages.
The main lack of functionality at the moment is on what I *think* is the final stage: the "level" square is on the house behind the castle, and the monsters include a resurrecting boss. When I hover over a monster to get the "HP remaining" figure, the numerical bar remains blank, indicating that I lose no HP (this happens when all opponents are stunned). Sometimes, I get killed instead of winning the battle "for free". Since there's virtually no information available on monsters, even after I've fought several of the same type, I consider this a bug.
