And Evolution final joke on us, kids, were our legs' muscles, which were not only hardwired into a perpetual forward movement, but also involuntary, out of conscious brain control. That is why one of our first decisions after we discovered genetic engineering was to forbid natural breeding and do away with Evolution altogether.
Bugs in Arena Mode: backpack does not work (pretty fatal), backpack pops when accessing stores (and you have to click again in the seller for the store to appear) and potion store not accessible due to the previous bug (the backpack pops above the seller so you can't click it again). MacOS, Google Chrome.
Just a heads up: it seems that to get the Bestiary badge you must also acquire all equipment, including the ones for sale in the village store. I finished the game but had to fight my way to 5000 coins again to get the last shield before the badge was awarded.
Bustar, the epic and devasting vampire lightwielder has reached level 213. His health is 5570, his magic power 2475. His 495 strength allows him to destroy all enemies in one or two blows. He's completely immune to ice or electric damage and even fire can barely touch him. He has 22,5 million points and is tired of fighting. Time to die...
The first levels must be approached with a combination of magic and luck. Use Bolt before the electric spheres and Swarm after that. Shield is essential. Heal too. Vine Field and Sanctify are nice. You must have 100 ice resist or you won't survive the first ten blue knight levels.
Start pumping the strength up when all stats get to 100. At that point you are almost invincible, magic is useless, bosses can't hurt you and your equipment is ridiculous. My last sword is 412/413 and I deal almost 10k damage per hit.
Things I missed? Autopick. Some sort of save. Maybe a greater objective like Ascending in Nethack. But 5/5 as it is.
I wonder why isn't there a badge for an elite win, it's at least medium, maybe hard: no visual clues for ammo and health, no checkpoints, a lot more enemies and far more accurate ones at that, very small space for mistakes. It ook me a long time to pass Kosovo Base and I am still trying the last mission.
[SPOILER ALERT] (not a whole lot of it, but just in case)
I got three endings. Shouldn't there be a fourth one - the really heroic one? If so, how to get it? And (maybe unrelated, maybe not), does anyone managed to figure out what to do with the large sleeping dog?
Allright - I completed the game, got all stars, all achievements, all guns, all shields. I think you had enough time already. Where the hell is the sequel?
Is it a game or is it my mother? Why do I have to keep eating healthy when all I want is to run and blow things up?
Now, seriously - I found it amusing, I like the retro style and the careless gameplay. But at least solve the balance problem. The ship gets to tough too soon, there are too many useless creeps (that serve only to help the ship with more power-ups), the health shouldn't be refilled after each level maybe after each boss) and on the top of it all bosses are far too easy.
People complaining about "fairness" of a dice roll should go back to Statistics 101. I made a 5000+ roll - I may tell you luck was involved.
The game is quite balanced - once you learn to play against the realist AI you may expect a 50/50 ratio (looking at my stats I see 27 wins and 27 loses at this very moment).
After you get to the last age (it's almost inertial if you remember to level up before the enemy), just keep going until you have the money to send a war machine in FRONT of a super soldier. For a faster result, clean the field with your special. Do it two or three times and that is pretty much it. I have to agree it's quite boring and uneventful.
duffman229,
Someone explained it in a comment somewhere, but if I got it right, it's probably harder than actually beating the boss. Hear Pandaonfire. Also, buy armor and auto-repair. I needed four of each to [barely] beat the bugger.
Just before mission 15, a newsgirl announces that the "Columbian" president Hugo Chavez did something. I'll be nice and propose the game is simulating the ignorance of American press, not the ignorance of American game designers. Hugo Chavez is the president of Venezuela.
Strange bug: Firefox will freeze at the two swords screen (the "Armor Games" animation). IE, on the other hand, will let me play but will fail to connect to Kong (the chat, for instance, loses the connection). So I won two campaigns and got no card.
