If you're going to abruptly put the characters in the middle of the screen (stage 8) at least pull the camera back to compensate. Literally all of the challenge in that stage is because those rock-throwing assholes basically spawn in attack range.
Taking over the camera to show me the survivors' locations isn't too helpful when zombies can spawn and attack people before the game even gives me control.
There needs to be either an upgrade that shrinks the dragon or a longer gap between spikes. As soon as the wizards show up it literally becomes impossible to avoid damage.
Armor scales *very* poorly. For example, I had my wooden sword/armor around +20 when I started making copper stuff. The copper sword +1 was better right off the bad, but the copper armor had to be upgraded a dozen times or so before it was particularly worth using. Iron seems no better now that I've unlocked it.
I don't know if this is a glitch or what, but a few times now I've started a chest puzzle only to have it instantly fail despite having keys in my inventory.
I think the main issue regarding the difficulty is the lack of invincibility frames upon taking damage. I'm pretty sure I've been hit twice by the same projectile several times now, for example. I know movement speed is supposed to make up for this, but the size of both the bullets and the character more than counteract any dodging ability on my part.
To those asking, the Happy Pills gives you a bonus to your bonus gold. For example, if you were getting +10%, the pills would give you an extra 70% of the 10%, for a total of +17%.
Anyway, my complaint is that the badges are so freaking expensive. I mean, with a double gold payout from a perfect, I still only get about 2k per puzzle. That's 10-15 puzzles just to break even on a new badge. Unless hard puzzles reward a lot more or the dailies start loading at some point, I don't see how I'm expected to afford many more badges, let alone the utility items.
Couple of things that bug me: 1) the death screen takes too long to animate, and 2) having ranged enemies appear during the sudden death challenges is just silly. It'd be one thing if it were easier to see them attacking so I could dodge, but when there's a giant mob of enemies covering the screen, they *also* disguise the projectiles, and I just die out of nowhere, repeatedly (which makes complaint #1 worse, incidentally).
I think meat should heal you a bit, for one hit's worth of damage, say. Like others have said, the growth mechanic doesn't mesh well with a bullet hell as is (and you don't fire nearly enough to just shoot your way through).
I don't mind the auto-targeting, but the ship needs to rotate a lot faster for it to be viable given how slow I am compared to the enemies. Tying rotation speed to the speed upgrade would help. I've also noticed that my bullets tend to despawn when several enemies are on-screen, which creates a nice death spiral (more enemies -> can't kill enemies effectively -> even more enemies etc.).
I've noticed that the sub kind of wigs out while maneuvering in a boss room, sort of twitching back and forth whenever I try to stop. Makes avoiding bullets a bit difficult.
