It is a roguelike at it's MOST basic level; but that certainly doesn't mean it isn't enjoyable. As a fellow roguelike developer, I must say, this is a good job. There are quite a few details that are well worked out; example, the automatic equip system. Most roguelikes would give you tons of items and you work out which one you use yourself, but this one takes the automatic better item. Normally that would be bad game mechanics, but the switch system here is pretty damn clever.
I really thought this one wasn't really all that good. I really liked the other ones though. I'm guessing there's just too much repetition in this one.
Damn Wolf, even if you're just creating a game that sounds like something quick, small and fun, it's still this expansive. Really enjoyed it; I'm gonna say what I said with every last one of your games. You're a really creative mind, but what gets me most each time is your awesome sense of humor.
You just kinda get thrown in an arena without any notion of what to do, then when you start driving it starts flashing DO THAT... Second later NO DO THAT. Without even telling what exactly what it does nor having the time to decently read what's going on.
I mean... At least give us an idea of what to expect.
I love how the games from Berserk Studios are always stress-relievers instead of stress-inducers. But about this game in particular, it's a bit repetitive. Otherwise not bad.
This has got to be one of the most repetitive defence games I've ever played. I shoot the castle with bomb and fire, castle down, I send 1 group of archers and grunts, and I pelt everything I have until they get the flag back. Every. F*ing. Level. It got dull after a level or 3, and now I still have a bunch to go.
Ok, to comment the finished product now. First of all, I love the revamp on the menu, and the battle HUD. It really all looks smooth now. Second, I caught myself having this in the background while doing something else, constantly humming with the tune. I absolutely LOVE your music, it sounds very professional, and every theme is very fitting for it's surroundings. All in all, an intro to a game that really makes you want to see the rest; great storyline, and love your sense of humor, it keeps the whole thing a little bit light-hearted, which easily makes you want to continue.
Pseudolonewolf, this is a comment I make before I'm playing this chapter, just to say that I am so glad it finally came out. From the moment I've finished the second chapter I frequented your website to see how far the game was progressing, because really, the story is captivating and humorous at the same time, I wanted to keep coming back for more. I knew something big of a game was about to come up, and from the looks of the comments it is. If people call your game a 'final fantasy ripoff' consider it a blessing; the final fantasy series are a legend for your game to be related to it. And I'm pretty sure if this spreads out, it'll become a legend too. And now I'm off to play the game, and afterwards I'll make another comment. Congrats for getting this finished. =)
Wow... This is... Very weird. The moment I read the comment of or321, saying level 5 expert completed itself, I went back to the game and I had the same thing... 4 commands, 96 calls. The last thing I did was open the user levels, and this took some time so I changed my mind and clicked level 5 expert, and the level opened but had an 'I Like This' button besides it, probably from the user levels. Then I closed it again, opened the user levels again, finished a level, whereafter the game got stuck on the metal closing door thingies and I had to refresh.
Wth... I just got the hard badge with the baseball bat, the stud bracer and the money belt, Etienne at level 10... I didn't even buy a few decent items yet...
