The song selection is neat, but the gameplay itself is horrendous. One star, only because you cannot rate lower, else I suggest negative 2. The nonsense timing and ridiculous pacing of any song other than the first few is entirely impossible to play without needless and unwanted investment of play time to memorize the precise timing and sequence. All these on the amateur setting. The pro setting is even worse with more combo keys than the keyboard and finger positions can reasonably handle. I wonder if most (if any) of these are actually play tested for the noted difficulty.

Hint for the badge if you came here for the Kongpanion. Easiest are Chapter 1 Levels 3, 5, 9, and 12. You will need to go through 4-5 other levels (I chose 1, 2, 4, 7, and 8) to unlock the early teen levels. The rest are not worth the trouble, IMHO.

WHY? Why would anyone make controls like these? Even a decade ago, we can easily program good controls.

Day 389720: Still trying to find the perfect pixel by sheer luck for the super bomb to land at that precise spot for gold medal. Day 172839 and 262113 found the spot, but the totally erratic physics engine meant that one brick fell just a pixel of to prevent the necessary cascading effect for gold medal. The repeated tries, continues.

Any platformer with a margin of error of 1 pixel or less, is a little too hardcore for my aging reflexes.

Lavel 14: When a puzzle becomes less a puzzle but a trial of repetition for that pixel perfect accuracy and atomic clock timing. Previous entries of the series had frustrating levels, but this... this takes the card. Even after verifying the method I thought up is the way to do, there is no amount of finesse, dexterity, and speed, with by two left thumbs to do this. 1 star.

Nice concept. But (1) Too grind-y: reduce lower level item drop rates significantly at higher level maps. (2) Shortcut keys: helps use powers. Just do it. (3) Increase item collision size in inventory. Make it easier to merge items, since it's half the game. (4) Speed run. Let the player choose to 2x/3x speed instead of sitting through the same grind. (5) Justify the clicks to open safes very critically, or remove it.

Dude can't jump. Can't shoot. Obstacles are trying if not impossible. Not for anyone without the time to retry the same island repeatedly to practically be flawless (the hearts are for that mistake at the end). Nice concept, frustrating level design.

Would prefer better interface. Often, I am forced to rush to click on the pixel the blob is, only to miss. If you can make the blob selection to a bigger box like area around it, it would help having top move the mouse all the way to the left to pop a normal blob, then rush all the way to the right to click on it. where you need to change it to a useful blob.

Developer response from joqlepecheur

You can now pop blobs with 'P' to place your mouse in advance edit: there is now a pause functionnality, that willl give ample time to select and apply powers

Poor game. Some suggestions. (1) Keyboard in put to type the answers instead of forced letter hunting. (2) Better color scheme instead of white letters in blue-grey background. (3) Backspace. Backspace. Backspace.

Some help in case needed... Level: (1) Run right and lick the old man. Ewww... (2) "Double jump" to "Stomp". (3) Get the right naked dude, Stomp up to the starting point, and jump over the fire. (4) Lick bats to fly towards it until you hit a wall. Stomp to get to high flying bat. (5) Stomp bats to remove them. (6) Stomp bats to use them as platforms to jump farther. (7) Stomp 2nd lower bat from left to reach right of map. Stomp of right upper bat to make the zone safer. Lick to "orcify" human. Stomp and lick top left bat to return to starting point. Walk off the ledge and lick lower left bat to fly right. Might take some tries to get just right. (8) Ghosts fade and are safe to pass through while Stomping. (9) Lick Ghosts to stun them (permanently). Only stun the first/left one. (10) Stun all Ghosts when they are floating low before licking bat. (11) Wait for update...

Nice game, if a little silent about how to start it. The hint is there, but took me about a min to figure out you need to drop sheep on the egg. Beyond that, it was nice and easy. Love the princess bonus, again, it was only out of curiosity that I discovered it. Lastly, that music! Lovely!!

Weak interface. There are plenty of similar games with a "drag and drop" interface, that feels more fluid than this clunky "point and click, point and click" interfacing. It has slight merit of being more precise, but it ends up feeling a little clunky. Food for thought.

Interesting twist to the "save people from chest" quests in levels. Interesting new mechanic. Love the idea. Same pixel perfect precision, which I honestly feel is unnecessarily punishing to players. Take L13 for example. I see no function to have the spikes there at all. The trick/puzzle has been used 2-3 times in earlier levels. It's solved before and adds nothing to the level. Adding to the juuuust peak of "double jump" limit to reach the skull means really unnecessary many repeats. Plus more spikes, means even more repeats and passing the same stale obstacle over and over. Needless punishment before the player even gets to try the new trick/level of the level. Bad.

The puzzles are fun, and often there are 1-2 that really requires lateral thinking to solve. That said, many tend to requite precisely timed, lightning quick reaction, which makes knowing the solution but frustratingly trying to execute it a major issue. Couple it with unresponsive keys when a solution demands 3 keys in near simultaneous strokes in 4 consecutive sequence with zero margin for errors and you have a perfect storm of unnecessary repetition just to get that perfect path to resolve the level. This appears to be consistent with Choppy Orc and Sleepy Knight as well.

Rotate

Many times a rotate happens, the game freezes and then all controls are lost. Since almost all puzzles require movement while in mid-air after a rotate is triggered, this leads to more deaths than need be.

Developer response from JoshuaStone

Hmm, that's strange. Unfortunately it's very difficult to guarantee that the game will run well on everyone's systems. I can try to look into the issue, though.
