I just started my second play-through (awesome game, btw), and noticed one small thing that would be really handy to have implemented. Since the medals are independent from the save files, I cannot tell when I get all of the treasure chests in each area anymore. An enhanced stat screen would help out immensely.
@Dubonjierugi: To get past the ruins, you need to gather the four orbs sitting on their original pedestals, and put them on the four pedestals right next to the big door. To get to those orbs, look at the plaques on the walls next to each of the smaller doors. Flip the switches to match that pattern (there is a | and O label on the switches; I did not notice those for quite a while). Hope that helps.
What a crock of BS. They released a buggy game, and then make it to where you cannot save on certain releases. So then when it locks up, you are screwed. 1/5 due to them being selfish idiots.
I agree with the general consensus that this is a great game, but the mini-games detract from the overall experience. I would add that it is strange that you cannot attack from top or bottom. Also, it makes it hard to utilize the different formations with a field that is five rows high, often with choke points that do not even allow one formation to fit.
Wow...I must have played too many games like this one. I got it in 12 days my first try, thanks to my beating my last three achievements on day 11... It wasn't the most original game, but I enjoyed it. 4/5
Seen this before, and this is just an OK execution. Sure helped pass the time at work, but nothing here to make me come back to play again. Way easy, still have $10 enemies during the last wave, no boss penguin, shotgun sound if far from realistic. What took so long for the arial penguins to upgrade? And then they still only take off 5 health if they suicide bomb. Why do you start waves with empty *magazines*? Oh, and I had a bug where I finished the game and I could still hear my minigun blasting away.
All in all, good start. But needs a little something else. A.I. for your guys so they don't keep firing at the invisible guys, or maybe to where they will switch target to the quick little guys that are reaching your base instead of the big brutes in back where they do minimal damage anyways would be nice.
oh yeah, and that stupid music from the reward keeps playing when I went to "play again." It makes me want to shove a screwdriver through my inner ear.
First, I have seen a lot of these before. Second, several of the "hints" were just worthless. Third, I feel like I got Rick Rolled by the "reward" for completing the game. That last one alone made me change my score from a 3/5 to a 1/5.
Good game, right up to the point where it ended. I was like "I have all this $$$ to spend now. Bring it on!!" And then it stopped. Lost a point on the rating just for that.
Yeah, needs hallucinogens and a quicker/more progressive upgrade system, and multiple leves with carryover weapons would be awesome.. Still, a good 5/5. Made my day fly by.
Not too bad of a game, but there were several things that I found to be annoying. I know people have said most of these already, but these are my observations. Having to press a button during the attack is annoying. Chi burst is a worthless spell on all levels. Equipment found in chests was way too low level by the time I found them. Method to change characters was time consuming and annoying. Pets were nice, but I wish they would attack more. Lack of the ability to see what armor is currently equipped without having a similar piece of armor in the inventory makes shopping a pain. There is a bug if you close out of a dialog box using the top right ""X."" I left the arena, went into a dungeon, and after a random encounter it asked me if I wanted to continue fighting in the arena.
Like I said, its a decent game, but it has many design flaws and bugs. 3/5
Losing entire inventory when you die ruins the game. Considering you have no clue what you might run into, you cannot pick and chose your battles, so you lose everything to a squad with grenade launchers. It would be a solid 4/5, but I give it a 1/5 for being fundamentally broken/annoying.
The tree was neat, but it needs more ways to take out that damn dog ;-)
And yeah, not being able to reload until the clip is empty is annoying. You even get the reload soundbyte, but no more bullets. Also, I might add that most duck hunting laws limit the magazine to three bullets.
For those of you who might not know how snooker is played, first a red ball is pocketed for 1 point, and then a colored ball (i.e. non-red) is pocketed for its corresponding value. Yellow, 2; green, 3; brown, 4; blue, 5; pink, 6; black, 7. Then you have keep alternating back and forth between shooting red and then a colored ball. Colored balls are respotted, but reds are not. Play continues until all of the reds are pocketed, and then the colored balls are shot in order of value.
These rules are posted inside of the game as well, although the use of the phrase "any color" during game play would be confusing to non-snooker players. Might not be a bad idea to change the wording to better clarify.
