Better levels that the original, but still very frustrating how pixel-sensitive it is. I got fed up with the highly random levels and used a walkthrough. Very tedious.
Not a bad little puzzle game. The only hard part was figuring out the strange non-intuitive rules that dictate where the water will flow around certain pipe configurations.
Pretty fun! I love simple concept games like this, even though there is not much thought involved. I cannot pass Insane level 4. I have all the upgrade points and have tried about 12 different upgrade configurations.
Could have been a lot better. I like the puzzling aspects, but some of the levels are infuriatingly difficult to execute. Precision jumping and racing against the clock are not my thing, and they really detracted from the intellectual components of the game.
I feel the same about this Gemcraft as I did about the original. It's too light on strategy, and requires too much frantic activity during the waves. I prefer Tower Defense games in which I can make strategic decisions and then sit back and see if it works.
I'm a big fan of puzzle games, but this one fails for me. I don't like having to die multiple times in order to understand all the parameters of the puzzle. Every switch seems to do something different, and doing the levels is more about trial-and-error than thoughtful logic.
Finally! I love these shift games. Keep them coming, please! My only criticism is I don't like the frantic music here - I muted it after 2 minutes. The cool jazz was much better to puzzle to.
