This is taking a bit of a beating in the comments for being impossible to get stars on some levels. That may be... but from someone who doesn't care about stars (there's no badges after all), this is a fun little game. The clock makes it a challenge - I finished one level with 36 seconds left. No stars, but I beat the level.
This is a fantastic game. What would really help is for the levels when you have to "shoot" a space in order to break it apart, if we got more of the'zapping' type blocks. Sometimes I'm just clicking and clicking with no move to set up, waiting for a projectile I can fire at the green space. Then one shows up, but it points up and down instead of diagonal. A little frustrating to have a strong start to a level only to fail because I couldn't get the blocks I needed.
Finished regular, hard and impossible for the first two sections. I'm at 100% on both levels. I'm not being asked to go further. Surely this isn't the end of the game, right?
Hit an impossible mission. Trying to defend an overrun area from the tower when there are three bosses and way too many attackers to keep up with - it's absolutely impossible to pass. I can't upgrade the tower, nor can I head in on foot. I'm just going to have to lose the area and hope I can reclaim it later. Not cool.
Level 6, I pushed the box needed to get to the exit off the wrong side of the platform. It got stuck in a corner and the only way to undo this was to restart the entire level. Okay... lesson learned, but fun level was decreased as I trudged through a rerun of everything that came before.
Love the game, love the graphics... and I understand that water hurts me until I figure out how to swim. But the higher I level up, the more water hurts me. What is in this water?
I'd like to think when the zombie apocalypse happens, capitalist greed will simply go away. I'm the only guy defending the town from ravenous hordes of zombies and you're going to CHARGE me for that rocket launcher upgrade?
So much left up to complete fluke. Yet when I score a goal, I feel as though I have mastered a finely-tuned skill. For a one-button game of arbitrary simplicity, this is ludicrously fun.
Loved the first three installments, hated this one. Wrestling with getting the brother on the sister's back is tedious. It's disingenuous to call this a 'puzzle' game when so much time is wasted on a little task like this.
Finally clocked that 144th star, then went back with the fire and ice weapons just to commit some mass space-murder in the name of badges. Honestly though, matakukos scores another big 5-star win with yet another brilliant Notebook Wars entry!
Without a restart button or a way to give up, when you get stuck you're left just sitting there, waiting for the timer to run out... then we have to refresh the page to play again? Good potential, but this isn't ready for release yet.
I disagree with the posts that request every level to be solvable - that's the nature of solitaire. Sometimes a level just can't be beat. My biggest beef with this game - which I otherwise quite enjoy - is the time limit. It's a 'relaxing' game, so let me relax and play at my own speed. The beauty of solitaire is that when a customer comes in and interrupts my game I can walk away and come back to my screen to continue. I hit 'P' in mid-level, and quickly scanned for a pause button... nothing. Had to abandon the attempt.
I'd love to see a full-on game for this like the one you can get in the App store. The iPhone version lets you collect money, buy upgrades, and has a lot more in the way of Gopher stuff. And the Great Shot meter (blocked by the ad) actually means something.
Thank you!
