Magic was too weak. The only reason you'd ever want to use it is to save yourself from taking a hit, but the cast time and the fact that enemies die in two hits already makes it no better than a normal attack. Heal was the only worthwhile spell.
Biggest gripe is that you wall-jump by pressing left or right instead of when pressing up. Doesn't make sense at all and caused plenty of stupid deaths.
"If you think the guards should be killable, you missed the point. "
No I didn't. The game is completely random. You just sit there waiting for the guards to move away. Having to wait until the game decides to randomly let you win is a stupid gameplay mechanic. Being able to kill the guards would allow the player to actually do something instead of sitting around.
Oh and another problem is that the clip size upgrades have no impact on your overall DPS since it takes proportionally more time to reload the larger clip, so you still spend the same amount of time reloading.
IMO: Make guns much more expensive. Currently a fully-upgraded M5 costs a little over $3000 and is easily 10 times better than three fully upgraded turrets which cost over $30,000. The only reason people would ever need better fortresses is if they're consistently overwhelmed, and making guns about 10 times more expensive would do that pretty well.
Also: is it just me or is the fully upgraded M5 much stronger than the fully upgraded XT33? It seems like the M5 is supposed to be bad because of low accuracy, when in practice that doesn't matter because there's so many monsters that it's impossible to miss.
This game was just way too easy. It seems like the fortresses are supposed to be useful since you can sleep in them while turrets kill monsters, but there's no need to ever sleep when there's so much free time. On top of that you'd be stupid not to kill all the monsters you can for money. Even when you take damage, healing yourself is trivial because of all the free time you have. Heck, it's no problem beating the game soon after the first day. Combine that with ridiculously expensive turret upgrades that give you worthless turrets, even when fully upgraded, and high-end guns that are way too cheap, and trivialize the entire game, and you've got a boring game.
Oh my god this game embodies all the things I hate about RTS games. You have melee units that run up to use their attacks instead of staying in formation with the healing units. You have healing units that rush forward in front of your melee units. You can't tell your units to stop attacking, and units can't attack while moving, so things that would be trivial obstacles, such as a tiny trickle of enemy goblins, become an impassible barrier as your units spend 6 to step on a single goblin. On top of that, units just arbitrarily decide to move forward every now and then even when they don't need to. In the Baal map, where the entire fight revolves around not getting in aggro range, this just becomes infuriating.
I DON'T WANT MY UNITS TO MOVE ON THEIR OWN!!! I WANT TO BE ABLE TO CONTROL EVERYTHING THEY DO!!! STOP THINKING THAT GIVING UNITS AUTOMATIC AI IS A GOOD THING!!
HOW THE HELL DO I GET MY UNITS TO STOP ****ING ATTACKING!?!?!?
All I need them to do is just move 5 feet forward so they're in range of the castle but they stop for every ****ing goblin in the way.... God why the hell can't you add a button to tell your units to just STOP ATTACKING!?
