Ah so buying one item overrides the second...thanks for telling me before I spent all my gold on that. I really appreciate surprises that make me waste all my money.
Cool game, I maxed out the sniper rifle and assault rifle. I think the assault rifle might be better if built right, but I made it my backup weapon that generated heat fast. Get 5 bullet/shotgun upgrade for it, drones (to survive ground impact), bouncing bullets, all damage/fire rate upgrades and gatling gun. It will fill the screen with bullets and hit larger things multiple times from bounces - very effective.
@ Waddleman - First boss self-destructs on death and is killing you. @Lost Hexed Starting weapons are essential. It is impossible to play past hard as a rogue because you can't beat the 1st level with rogue-like stats and your fists.
There is a bug with some skills that causes your block amount and % to increase every time you open your inventory screen. This makes the game super easy.
Best thing to do is upgrade pistol twice, air filter and health. Second pistol upgrade is damage. This will save you money because you'll use less ammo, need to buy less air filters and can hold off on eating.
After that you can buy and/upgrade some of the other weapons - recommend flame-thrower upgraded for boss.
So I decided to check in - still no update and the rating seems to have gone up. It was already way too high. At this point I wonder if they've created fake accounts to uprate them, because this is a serious step down from the original game - the lag is horrible, a bunch of the upgrades don't actually work (or even hurt you), and brilliant in later levels is dependent on luck with drops.
You know, I loved the originals, but everyone has simply rated this 5 before actually playing it. The graphics are much worse, the lag gets horrible fast, it is too slow, the developers REFUSE to fix bugs when they've been pointed out. This game does not deserve a 4.5 rating AT ALL. I'm giving you a 1 and hoping enough people do the same for you to learn your lesson.
High ground doesn't actually improve damage output. It SHOWS an increased damage when you click on the tower, but, for dens anyway, it isn't actually increasing the damage when you look at enemy health (tested with 3 levels of high ground).
Two sets of heave maces, one on the front and one on the back, will let you (fairly) safely sit on bosses and do very nice damage. One set works well too, but if you accidentally hit him from your uncovered side you'll take a lot of damage.
I AM SO SORRY
