Nice game, not too hard, not too easy. Nice animations, though gore's not my things.
But... I didn't get awarded the badge, and came back an hour later to find there's no continue or save games.
... Oh well, I'll live :D
Aw, there's nothing in the sky. It gets dark... then light again! So I thought I was going to hit the sun or Earth or something equally silly! But it's just a programming glitch, it gets dark again, then light again, forever.
5/5 no question at all. You *must* see the voice acting in this game. If you take it seriously, you are in for a thrilling experience on the order of Left4Dead or any zombie movie. It's not a metal-gear-solid style story with characters and stuff to remember, though there are a few unnamed characters. Instead it gives you a sense of what it's like for the various types of people stuck in this hellish situation. The final few levels in particular describe a powerful dynamic between the soldiers on the ground and their commanders. Predictably there is an element of betrayal, but unlike so many zombie films it is not the "big twist". There is far more loyalty and honor. Reminds me very much of Max Brook's work. I HIGHLY recommend giving this a try, though I feel the difficulty should be reduced.
This is still a good game, just lacking polish.
Things to know:
Killing mailer-daemons is priority one. Don't hesitate to ram them, you are a fire elemental after all. The Lovecraftian thing is survivable, but it takes a while and changes your ending.
Charge your attack. This lets you shoot multiple enemies at once, which causes them to drop energy and health.
Know how you hold spacebar to regenerate energy? Well, this draws in the loot the pickups the enemies drop.
Knowing these things, the later areas almost become easier, though in a fun way. Just fire power-shots into the masses of enemies, and draw in the resulting powerups, keeping a close watch for mailer-daemons.
Way too slow, no easy way to compare weapons (like a DPS estimation). How can I compare 2% vs 3% extra damage, when I don't know how much damage the weapons do? The main problem, though, is that the game incredibly slow/tedious. Case in point, the stage 2 knight/priest/mage fight. Why is the mage such a damage soak? He has passive healing abilities - I could see a knight having that, but a mage? Then at 10% health he used an ability that healed him for all his health and buffed him. WHY IS THE MAGE A TANK.
I bought only the gold nail and the cannon, and ended up $707 short. I didn't even fire 35 cannon shots, so I needed to complete the game with a budget of less than $4000. No enemies made it through, either. This is my third attempt and I'm very disappointed, I probably lost due unavoidable bad luck. It's also lame that we need to guess how much we're allowed to buy, or read comments to find out.
So, my previous comment was made before I found the customization screen. Wow. 5/5. Reloading works perfectly, the default ability just makes it not take an action. You can see the number of shots on the gun image in the bottom-left. I died on the 1vs1 fight about a dozen times before I found the customization screen, then it wasn't nearly so hard. It did leave me with an intense dislike of regeneration though... seems like it should be nerfed, but maybe I just got frustrated (:
I just completed the map where you have to flee toward the enemy spawn. It wasn't actually hard, it just required a little out-of-the-box thinking: don't kill any enemies, just keep them flashed constantly. If you kill them they'll respawn around your objective. I took no losses, and the most damage I took was because I accidentally finished off an enemy with a flashbang, and he respawned near me (:
I like this. Good tactics, and the presentation isn't so bad either. Sometimes reloading doesn't work, I assume because the unit is out of clips, but the whole mechanic is rather pointless. Ammo isn't really a problem, just switch to the other gun (as a free action) or pick up a gun, so I suggest you remove the ammo mechanic altogether. Less confusion.
Enemy respawning was a bit jarring. I had an enemy spawn in and knife one of my guys. This isn't actually a major problem, as long as the player treats the enemy spawn as dangerous, but you could force units to spawn at least a certain distance from their foes.
Ok I'm agnostic/gaian and I love the concept of Eve+Adam getting payback against god for the shit he put their children through. But this game sucks! How could you make a lousy fighting game like this after making a good one like Death Vegas? If it's possible to have a perfect match against Satan, that means there's a system of attack that'll work well against him... but WHAT? There's no tutorial whatsoever, much less a primer on tactics. Everything moves too fast for experimentation, and the hit detection sucks anyway. So FECK this, FECK street fighter, and FECK christianity. You all suck. PARTICULARLY YOU YOU MOTHER FECKING CONTENT FILTER.
Nice game, no problems with it at all. Funny, cute, fun. The "medium" badge is crazy though. Every achievement? Really? Took a while to get the first 28, but "Sky Captain" is insane. Even with all upgrades, about 90 seconds in, instant-death is crossing the screen from all directions. Even if you see an enemy coming, where can you dodge? Most likely into another enemy. "Medium" my arse, screw that badge. Game is fine though.
Hahahahaha! Bwahahahaha!
Wonderful sense of humor. Decent gameplay mechanics, a lot of optional depth (the best kind of depth!).
The ending animation and minigame were perfect, just perfect.
Not a bad game in general, but farming reputation is dumb. I believe I've completed every shadow quest and never attacked them, yet they won't "allow" me the quest to give them the last heartstone piece. I already farmed about 30 to get the third piece, now I need 699 more reputation points. I seriously hope I've missed a quest, but if so, it's only because the map gives no indication of where any unsolved quests are. Otherwise fun combat mechanics and good game.
Nice style and artwork. I like the messages when you use objects. Very short for a hard badge though, much less one with a step-by-step walkthrough. I'd suggest an easy badge instead.
