It's not just the fact that the game is dialog heavy. I think the dialog can be more effective by being more concise in some places.
I'm a writer. I know about shortening things up. Sometimes you have to edit things out and shorten things up a bit to get the point across better and keep people interested.

The weapon doesn't end up meaning anything once you get to higher levels. You need to be able to manuever and run away from things.
