I don't get all the complaints about the wall climbing. I mean, yeah, it's a bit tricky, but I didn't screw up any of the big ones once I figured out what I was supposed to do. It's really not that difficult.
Ahahahahahaha! I killed everything in the Big Boss level, except the boss itself, which had the tiniest sliver of health left. I was all like "FFFFFFFF-", but then I noticed one last Paratroopah floating down on the side. He finished it off with that one little bullet. A most glorious finale, I would say.
Nearly all of my deaths have been from my attack being like 2 pixels short of an enemy's hitbox, and then their counterattack comes the split-second my attack ends, before I'm able to move or attack again.
I guess technically it's my fault, but it still feels cheap sometimes. Nevertheless, it's a fun game.
@omegareaper7 & Vara: A better example of a non-random card game would be Spectromancer; Excluding the Chaos class (which is, predictably, all about random damage/healing), there are only a few cards with random effects, and it's a lot less make-or-break than random draws or hit chances. Plays quite differently than Elements, but the concept is a lot closer than Kongai's, which I would compare more to Pokemon (not a bad thing, mind you).
Am I the only one who keeps half-expecting to get carded by a Judge for breaking some arbitrary law (FORBIDDEN: DRUGS/RECOMMEND: INSULTS) every time I do anything?
@fourarms22:
You do realize that 2hp>1sec, 4hp>2sec, and 6hp>3sec are all "two hp per second", right? In fact, it's actually a downgrade, since you could get killed by 1 hp while you're waiting that extra second.
Reload speed is fine, too, once you upgrade it. (although it doesn't make much sense for most reloads to take so long anyway; is our Dude manually loading single bullets into each magazine? Maybe the "reload speed" upgrade is actually "better ammo organization", so Dude doesn't take ten seconds rummaging around for the kind he needs.)
"Yo dawg, I heard u like missiles, so we put missiles in their missiles so you can die while you die"
(Those green ones? My cause of death, every time. Always shoot them down first.)
...Waaaait a second, I just noticed something incredibly silly!
In the build menu, it lists the Jammer Truck as a good target for the Raptor Fighter, even though air units can't get close enough to attack them.
(speaking of which, the "best targets/worst target" thing is kind of useless since just about everything has War Machine/Rockets/Jammer on Best and Annihilator as Worst.)
Luck increases your chance to crit, and also helps you find better drops (including +Luck items, which means it practically pays for itself).
As a result, Crit is superior to Damage since each point of Crit actually adds 2 damage, and if you make it far enough your luck will reach a point that allows for 100% chance to crit.
Don't bother spending level ups on HP or MP; you get plenty of them automatically with every level up, so an additional +5 is meaningless. Focus on Armor, Luck, and Crit, and let equipment make up for the rest.
(my apologies if this comment is at all incoherent or rambling; i should have been in bed 7 hours ago. to be honest the game stopped being much fun a while ago but i kept playing because i liked the music. :V)
Er, addendum to my previous comment. On closer inspection, it's just your Death Rays that obscure enemy shots; Your regular bullets are, indeed underneath theirs.
Only problem I can really think of is that your shots (ESPECIALLY THE DEATH RAY) render *over* the enemies' shots. Kind of annoying when you're doing the "take no damage" challenges and you suddenly lose because a single tiny bullet was hiding under your lasers.
I wish I could have a sidearm AND a melee.
Also if I could share items between characters... I mean, it's not like that would break anything since there are still level requirements/weapon type restrictions. Still, a pretty good game (so far, anyway).
Decided to play this again after who-knows-how-long. Made it to wave 20. I have no idea how I managed to get past this level previously... GOOD LORD is it hilarious though. "Don't touch don't touch don't touch oh nooooooooooo*BLAM*"
This really is a great game, it's just massively unfair in the later Alien campaign.
Case in point: J. Rockit. Instant reaction time, perfect accuracy, ADRENALINE BOOST, and an undodgable weapon that inflicts burn damage so you can't even bank on your own Adrenaline to save you? That's not fun to fight, and he's in at least half the missions. Pair that with the worthless AI teammates who love to do things like grab the flag and refuse to capture it, or run into every landmine in sight, and it becomes infuriating. It gets to a point where you can't win through skill no matter how good you are (Unless you're psychic and can react to things before they happen), instead having to cheese the AI and hope you can kill faster than your team can suicide.
I'm still giving this a 4/5, but it could've had a perfect score if the later campaign was more balanced.
Fun little game, but it'd be more fun if I didn't keep getting double-turned by wolves right before a chance to heal. >_<
Ah well, I can always try again.
