This is the best chess game on kongregate. Unfortunately it's so underrated, ironically. Prior to this I thought chess was for nerds, then I entered a few games and got thrashed. Now I realise chess is an art and I'm all the more determined to master it.
Anyone gets the impression that when you're paying attention, the laser doesn't shoot and when you're not paying attention, the laser always catches you off guard. It's so uncanny.
The moment I load this game, my firefox loads like hell. And even after clicking a daily crate the screen doesn't go off and my reward doesn't appear. I'm starting to think that this game isn't worth playing.
@ wuzgar I agree that energy is needed as a limitation because otherwise they can't update game content enough to satisfy players who finished the game very fast. But people are not asking for 9000 energy. Truth is, 100 energy is simply too little (considering that later missions take up a lot of energy) so people can only play for a few minutes at a time and are forced to return between intervals which is inconvenient. Also, energy is unreasonably expensive.
The game creators obviously put a lot of effort into this. Many small details are not overlooked. For example, when using guns, shooting air also causes the weapon to degrade, meaning that ammo is wasted, whereas if you swing a melee weapon in mid air it doesn't degrade, unless you hit an object with it. I bet you'll only be able to use playing cards 52 times, because there are 52 cards in a deck. All these are rare to find in a generic fighting game, proving my point that this game is far from typical.
If you draw with the enemy you should at least get something out of it, not "defeat". If it ends up in "defeat" for you, shouldn't it be "defeat" for the enemy too? In that case, why don't you win anything?
@natdead Yes, I had 2 Sanguiphages in my deck, and their ability is Weaken Xeno 3. I was fighting the Xeno Invasion 2 mission and all of the enemy units were Xeno. All the Sanguiphages did were attack, but did not weaken the enemy units at all. Also, I had Pandemic in my deck, which is weaken all 3. When I used it, nothing happened either. I'm gonna test it out again.
I am now 100% positive that they intentionally excluded the confirmation button when selling/buying cards/refill energy/buy war bonds for the sake of earning money and to frustrate players. Because there is actually a confirmation button for the surrender option, yet they selectively excluded it from the others. How scheming. 1/5.
Amazing game, good use of achievements and badges to increase the replayability value. One of the games on Kongregate I can give a 5/5 without any regrets.
This game will do anything to waste your war bonds and/or energy, through the use of inconsistent bugs and glitches, lack of confirmation buttons, and constantly presenting you with a screen which prompts you to buy stuff. I find it very obnoxious.
