It's funny how only comments full of sycophantry doesn't get downvoted. As Kongregate is right now, it's actually more useful to only read hidden comments if you're interested in messages that aren't just "OMG BEST GAME EVAR!!121112"
The problem with this genre is that it's been done to death. Without adding anything new and interesting to the core mechanics it gets dull after 10 minutes or so. In addition this game doesn't really make an effort to have the different races be distinct from each other, so you can't really justify playing through it more than once (if you manage to get through it that many times in the first place due to boredom). Summarized, it's dull and not innovative in any way. But it does execute what it tries to do fairly well. 2/5.
Ok since I'm finished. Easily 5/5 for a kong game so I'll rate that here. If it's as a character says and it'll be "around 8 chapters", then the length would be comparable to retail RPG's. If you just added more sidequests and improved the graphics a bit I'd easily pay some cash for that once the product is finished.
Normal game got decent around halfway in, the first half was completely pointlesless, though. The design choice of hardmode was weird. Instead of making more challenging levels, you made it a fight against your own hardware (sensitivity of the keys).
Ok, played it a bit more so I'm ready to rate it:
-0.5 simple structure concepts, nothing interesting to play with (direct damage, splash, blockers)
-0.5 locks out majority of heroes with premium (some are ok, but not this many)
-0.5 simple upgrades, mostly flat power increases. Nothing interesting to play with here, either.
Except for this, it's a very good game. Entertaining and the giant system is very good - 3.5. I will rate it 3 (due to lack of half-stars), and eventually bump it up if anything is changed for the better. Tips: provide interesting effects and utility towers. Chain lightning? Different kinds of slows? Summoners? Knockback? Cash generators? Enemy teleporters (back to start)? Just some ideas.
It's kinda weird that ALL the other heroes are premium. Speaking as a person who buys premium content now and then, 2/3 of your pool shouldn't be premium content...
Hate it when you slip up after actually finishing the level and kill yourself, lol. Just got like 70/60 on level 4 and I killed myself while clearing up all the green :C
I always loved clearing green.
