Ok, getting someone all excited about finding out what the warp core does at 100% and then finding out that no, it's 120% now is a giant middle finger.

Alright, just finished it. First of all, thanks for making the upgrades less grindy than the last game. Second, gotta go with one of the other reviews that the bosses just take too darn long to kill. Like, most bullet hells will have boss fights with phases that have the same number of patterns but loop them half as long. Part of this is because they're tuned around ordnance instead of health regen, but part of it is also that once you figure out the trick to each one it kinda sucks to have to sit through them over and over again for minutes at a time and it becomes preferable to just give them a once-per gauntlet of them.

Some tips; Lvl 1-24 should be no problem. Hyperion (lvl 25); use (fully upgraded) blue hull, 4 bullet weapons with as weapon modifier 6 splits and 2 poisons. Practice a lot, get to know the safe places. He shouldn't be too hard. Level 21-24; The main goal is to survive, don't think too much about killing. Just keep avoiding and those levels will be doable. Atropos; Now this one is hard, but not hard with this setup (again everything fully upgraded) blue hull again, 4 bullet weapons with as weapon modifier 2 poison, 2 affliction and 4 split, as ship mod the defensive laser (very important to shoot enemy bullets away), and most important the leech bomb modifier. This will keep you alive, by being able to heal yourself 5 times. The survival run is EXTREMELY EASY to wave 25 compared to the bosses, don't worry about that. 5/5, amazing game, although a better/clearer tutorial about shop upgrades would be great. Good luck

I know this is going to sound dumb, but... I'm color-blind, and it took me a solid fifteen seconds to realize there were ships firing at me. Could NOT figure out where those bullets were coming from. =/

Beat Hyperion in one try lol use the strategy Ivod said to use. 4 bullets, 6 splits, 2 poison, level 4 hull, reactive plating, leech. Everything maxed. Easy win

The final boss is a major step-up in difficulty, but the good news is, if you can complete that then reaching level 25 in Survival is child's play. I completed it with four homing rockets, 3 with split and 1 with weaken, and with shield, autobomb and the focus hull. Plasma (without homing) also seems viable, though you may struggle to target the boss in the late stages. Focus is your friend- you can get away with ignoring that feature in every level prior, but you need it for this one.

Okay, being that it seems a lot of people have been having trouble with some stuff, and I walked through the game fairly easy, I'll give some tips. The first, and most important thing you should understand about this game, is that its NOT easy, if you're lookin for a nice easy bullet hell game, or if you're new to the bullet hell games in general, I'd suggest you move along to something else, this isn't for you. In terms of which hull/weapons are best, I used the blue hull all the way through, just upgrading as I got a new one, for weapons I just used Missiles, all 4 with Seeker, 2 with Split, 1 with Acid, 1 with Affliction, that set up will clear all the levels, including the boss run.

There are a lot of confusing elements here. Acid/Affliction don't stack according to author comments, but there is really no way to know that in game without VERY careful testing. I also wonder about the damage on split and splash, does split reduce the bullet damage if they hit before they split? Does splash reduce direct hit bullet damage, or is the splash damage itself 100% extra? Can Laser ever hit the same target multiple times, with or without homing?

@Fallen, you don't need 'all the weapons' just the good ones. Go with antimatter bombs, not just because they do big damage, but if you are in a tight spot, you can put one out and it'll kill the bullets for a few seconds. The weapons I use are 2 flak, 2 rockets, all of them have a splitter, rockets have acid, flak have the 'weaken'. And its good that you have the tank ship. The ship equips I used are shield + warp core. Though if you just care about winning, I'd recommend 2 shields.

Killed Hyperion only with red hull and leaching bombs... It was hell while i tried to kill it with my favorite green hull.

The problem with Keyboard Controls in this game is that when you press one button, you launch yourself halfway across the screen.

The warp drive misdirection is mean-spirited and detracts from the satisfaction of the game. There's nothing wrong with having an insanely hard boss-run, especially in a bullet hell game, and there's even nothing wrong with making it the gateway to some bonus. But don't announce the bonus right off and let the player think he's going to unlock it after beating the (extremely hard) last boss, only to snatch it away by surprise at the last second and put it behind an exponentially harder challenge. That demeans and frustrates the player, and it's only acceptable in games like IWBTG that play it up for comedy.
That, however, is the sole flaw in the game. Otherwise, it is by far the best bullet hell I have played on Kongregate or anywhere else outside the full-price market. It is visually gorgeous, the controls are perfect, the bullet patterns are some of the most original and fun I have ever seen, and the powerups are balanced and satisfying. 5/5, but you're still a jerk.

Boss rush, with harder bosses? I'm out. The warp core can't be interesting enough to be worth enduring that.
Definitely and awesome game. The weapon mods, similar to Ratechet and Clank: Deadlocked. It's such a cool system, I'm surprised it isn't used more.

Anyone skilled enough to fully charge warp core? doet it do anything? ... i just cant beat the boss run to find out :-/

Just a suggestion, for the acid thing, how about letting it stack on boss for like 3x. Like say, you poison the boss once, then you poison it a second time, then it would stack 2x, what I'm suggesting is the acid to stack to 3x acid. It should be good enough and would help tons.

If you're colorblind, like me, just endure the tutorial level. In the options menu in the bottom right, the STYLE slider can be set to either monochrome or beveled. Then you can actually see the ships BEFORE the bullets start flying.
Though I'd recommend giving Red/Green colorblind people a fighting chance to see the amount of work you put into this, and give them access to the display options right from the main menu. ;)

If anyone wants to know the ideal setup for beating Atropos, it's autobomb, shield, drive(assuming you want to charge it), 2x double-split missiles(center), 2x split-homing missiles(sides), and the final speed ship. All fully upgraded, and zoomed in(cinematic) to the point where you can see the side edges but just barely.

Want to get the hard badge easily? Four missiles, each with split and homing(fully upgraded), the t4 speed ship, and a shield as your ship modifier(I assume you also wish to charge the drive, so have that in the other slot). At the start of the fight, zoom in to 250% and position your screen so that the first digit of the health bar is in the far left portion of the screen and the boss is above the screen. Stick to the center and you'll be able to easily dodge most of the attacks.

How to defeat Hyperion: buy RED ship, Shield, Leech Bomb, 4x Homing Poison Lasers, max everything out. Hit with your rockets as much as possible. Some attack patterns are harmless (safe spots on lower screen edge with minimal movement), some force you to eat damage. Watch your health, ignite Leech when necessary.

This game needs an autosave.. I accidentally clicked off of the game (onto another) and when I came back to the game all of my progress was gone. Hours lost, and I was going for the top spot on one of the leaderboards...

best setup for me to kill atropos: red ship (max tier), antimatter bomb, 2 defense laser (1 if you want with warp core), 3 plasma cannons with double split and 1 plasma with single split and affliction

Tips for Tartarus: Use the hull that is rewarded for beating Atropos 2.0 in Boss Rush. Best of all worlds and the Megalaser is excellent. Try to save your bombs. Do NOT focus on hitting him, the Megalaser does that well enough. It's not over until it's really over, keep your eyes sharp. Equip the Warp Core. No spoilers but the reward is far too worth it. And importantly, Autobomb will be your saving grace if you can get to him with it. ...and when he starts "weaving" that spin pattern, switching holes is not recommended.
