Meta-gaming tip! When travelling with more than one character, make sure you spend the points of the characters you are not going to fight with on health. They will be healed 20% of their max, which you just increased, even if they do not fight. :)

I've got hit perfect 3 times, yet the game didn't seem to report it to the Kongregate API - the funny thing is I even couldn't take a screenshot as hits percentages vanish too quickly.

@ferryp: You can get the BotD within 5 minutes of playing the game easily. Plus, the badge is needed for the Scared Stiff Quest on Kongregate, so no point not getting the Easy badge. Hard badge on the other hand... well, it's hard.

Did not appreciate "terror" enemies, as noted by others. Taking 50-80 health is unbalanced compared to heal rate (even with a "sacrifice" strategy like mine). Flake is the only way to win the game, and only if you go all-in regen.

Got the hard badge and started by using LowManji's strategy but changed quickly (at least for last 5 chapters). If char's were ever teamed up, then I made anyone in the top row burst damage (get whatever for multi-shot) and essentially sacrificed them time and time again. After enough points, making Sheriff insta-doge and then Ulti is nice too. They would wound the enemy, and then make bottom row chars high regen and they'll always live (LowManji is right about 4 in Bite for Flake). When Char's are solo, make them tanky and just outlast. Last boss, sacrificed everyone before Flake who can simply outlast him (she could have won all by herself).

This game is too repetitive too be as long as it is. It is a lot of fun at first, but you level up too slow and just keep fighting the same things over and over again. If there is a sequel, add more stuff to do!!!

I swear that this game has some sort of Input Lag, there are times where I swear I hit the needle at 100% and it goes around 75% (Post 100%) and when I stop at 75% (Pre 100%) it goes to 100%, pleasecheck this bug out, game developer. The story and everything in general are just okay, but this nitpick strays it away from being a perfect game, also, I consider the hard mode a bit too easy
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Game WAY too hard, never can I hit @needle@ right... Way too fast needle. So, I cannot upgrade fully anyone? WHY?? Fix the game!! It will be perfect! but now.... 3/5.

Flake is the real monster first max her regen then her bite, if you maintain above 75% accuracy, she will be untouchable.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
None of the characters except the Last Flake matter for the final boss. Just max out her regeneration and give her some health and the last boss will not be able to do damage fast enough to kill her.

To everyone having problems defeating the Ancient Fear on Hard, this is the build I used:
Marco - Spirited Bullets and Concentration maxed, the rest on Headshot
Simon - Cleansing maxed, the rest on Concentration
Angela - Diamond Shot maxed, the rest on Concentration
Last Flake - Bite maxed, the rest on Concentration
Jake - Tiger Claw maxed, the rest on Concentration
That is it. I t will be a bit luck based, but very strong. I won in my second try.

Simple change that would benefit the smoothness of the playing experience a lot - make healing numbers in green and damaging numbers in red. This would make it easier to tell whether you actually got damaged or healed with an ability.

"The only thing to fear is fear itself... and lag, especially lag" great game, but you need a good internet for it to work well.

http://obscuremechanism.wordpress.com/2011/11/04/town-of-fears-walkthrough/ this was a great resource. Hard badge took longer than it was hard.

this is one of my favorite games on the internet. years after having discovered it, i still keep coming back. the simple yet rewarding gameplay combined with the clever skills of the different characters makes this a wonderful game. I really hope you guys continue to make games! thank you for sharing this one on Kongregate :)

If the developers can’t even figure out how to make separate controls for music and sound effects, they deserve to have their games rated 1/5.

For people going for the hard badge, don't be discouraged. The first two chapters are the hardest. Follow LowManji's advice and after the first 2 chapters, the rest is pretty easy. I died more on the first two chapters than I did for every other chapter combined.

the chance to negate a hit is way too high. It is the only ting stopping me from beating almost every enemy that has it.

Why do I have to keep playing and playing before I'm given the opportunity to restart the chapter? I've restarted the whole game just to get out of this trap?

I really love this game's style. The character and battle systems are just great. Would love more games in this style :) 4/5

Thank you LowManji for your tips on getting the hard badge! I just needed two tries for the boss and I beat him! Look up his comment in "Best", it really works! :3

The core mechanics work well, and the character abilities (and free resets!) feel satisfying to upgrade. The art is particularly impressive. However, the monsters quickly boil down to the same few HP numbers and ability sets, which makes combat get very repetitive very quickly. More variety in monster mechanics and abilities would have made a huge difference, as would a broader palette of player choices during combat. Meanwhile the plot, which is supposed to keep the player going through all that endless combat, is simply not engaging enough - it's not particularly unique or original, nor does it retell an old story with any special flair. I think the main problem is with the characters, who never quite cross the line from archetypes to living, breathing beings. Nevertheless, the game does show both skill and ambition on the part of the developers.

Welp, in Chapter 2 of 10, I've gotten tired of trying to win with the Librarian on hard mode. I get that it becomes easier later, but you've made a game so poor and thin that I don't care about advancing to that point. 2/5

Tips: Max out health regen and health on the girl with those abilities, she's really powerful. The last boss on hard was really easy because she was regenerating more damagen than the boss took.

u can win with librian and last flake
librian: all in 1st spell (because every hit -9% of max hp boss) 1 in health and 1 in heal, u mast keep defence >2 and flood 1st spell, ur mission is damage 300-400 after that u can die. then pick student max regeneration and health, 1 point in 1st skill
